Hi gang,
8 months since the finish of 36 rides on the wild horse, All is well. All weight is gained, eating is 85% there- vinigar-wine Frowner , and spicy hurt. The jaw creaks and opens only 32mm, normal should be 35-45. Have a problem clearing food out of my mouth, cant understand why. At 49 years old, I am weaker than ever before. I am tired at the end of the day. I am edging and have a quicker temper and lower patience level. No sign of any diease. My mouth is clean, but rear teeth are senitive. Sexually, perfect. Mentally, feeling battered, somewhat like having been at sea for a year. I feel older. I think I look older. I'm eating lots of ''live food''. Dizzy occasionally. No fears, except when I hear the doctor sigh during a checkup. Off to the USA tomorrow, and Houston/Denver/VictoriaBC. Doctors say 20 months of watching and waiting to see if all repairs itself. One year ago today I was told it was ''just an ulcer, by 2 Doctors''. When you can't eat Pizza in Rome because it hurts, it's time for a second opinion! All the best and remember- You're stronger than the little confused cells !

Good to hear from you Chris. You've done reallywell to regain your weight. I think many of us will know just what you mean by feeling battered and older, maybe wiser and more grateful for what we actually have right this minute.

I think clearing the food out of the mouth is normal for 2 years and certain foods are still a nightmare and go nowhere unless a drink pushes them along. It's a slow job, but you know that now and it is so wonderful when you actually enjoy some food types. I think of all those who can eat only with the peg and try to feel grateful for table food even if it only has half the taste and texture of before. This latter fact seems to show so much variation. It seems to me early radiotherapy taste damage means longer slower taste recovery.

Have a great holiday - it will do you good.

Hi Christopher Swiss,

Oh, how well you have described the post treatment period experienced by myself. I am a month behind you and more aged (72) and also somewhat behind you in weight gain and food intake.

It is so comforting to read of people doing well and to hear from others way ahead of us in treatment giving cheering calls to: 'Hang in there, it will get better in time'.

Enjoy America, I am.

Regards thankfully, Fridge
