Hi Everyone
Thought I'd drop a line to say hello and just touch base. It was 3 years yesterday (9th) since my very first post. Man! They sure have been packed to the brim.
I am well and hope that those who never post anymore are as well. I got a bit melancholy when this year's walk was mentioned. Can it really be a year since I was making the big decision to come over (up?)?
Yesterday saw the first of Trevor's bulbs beginning to flower ~ life goes on. My family are all well at present although the babes have both been sick and in hospital over the last few months. We have a wedding planned for 4th Sept as Tom (our youngest) and his girl Danni are tying the knot. Much lovely excitement and great to have something so positive to look forward to.
Best wishes for good health to you all.
Love from Down Under
Deborah

Ha ha.
On my first day in England, Angie and I went to a spa and the girl who was doing my nails (who had an unusual ~ for me, accent) said "I wouldn't like to go to Australia. You've got too many spiders and boogs'! It's strange to hear that people think that but we must have a reputation. Tell Haze I'll be sure to stock up on cans of spray so that we 'nuke' any intruders. My door is always open ~ don't forget that.
Hope you're well.
Cheers
Deborah

Cheers Deborah, it would be really nice to visit and see you. Maybe we'll make it down some time. Either way, I'm glad you are ok and it is really nice to hear from you. Hagg.

Hi Debs so glad o hear you are well. Like you I can't believe where the year has gone! I have some beautiful pictures of when I met you at the walk last year. You and your family will be in my thoughts tomorrow when we once again travel to London for the walk.

Hi Mum
What a nice surprise to hear from you. I woke this morning thinking 'today's the day' and imagining the excitement of the walk, and feeling a little melancholy. What a wonderful experience it was to meet so many friends last year. We had all been through so much together and fortunately so many were well and truly recovered.
I guess I'll be climbing into bed when you're all starting off but I'll be with you all every step of the way. I'll put aside a minute of silence during the day for those who have left us.
Put your best foot forward.
Love
Deborah
PS I'd wondered how those snaps turned out!

G'day Julia
I seem to be hovering a bit today. I look into the forums most days but today I'm back for a second go! Feeling a bit 'thingy'.
After I read Linda's post I had a look back through Trevor's thread so needless to say there have been some tears today and thinking back to the walk last year have got me feeling a tad nostalgic.
Anyway. Considering we have been in drought for about 5 years or so, you wouldn't believe what happened on Tom and Danni's wedding day. We have been having a lovely 'normal' winter, complete with rain and cold and all of that but all the planets must've lined up for the 4th Sept because it absolutely bucketed down and the winds were gale-force and it was freezing (with a capital FREEZING!). It was a garden wedding (as spring weddings often are) and there was no wet/cold weather alternatives. A small rotunda, although still wet and cold, housed the bridal party, umbrellas for the guests (those who braved the elements to attend the ceremony!) blew inside out the instant they were opened. Fortunately, the celebrant found a tarp in her car and so a half dozen or so of the lads held it aloft and as close as possible to the rotunda. This offered some protection at least but the poor fellas were wet, their shirts had ridden up and their tums were exposed, not to mention the stress on their arms as the wind flapped the tarp like a wild thing. I thought one of them would end up with a dislocated shoulder! Mind you I was so busy howling, I was pretty oblivious to everything anyway!!!
It was a lovely day inspite of the weather. Tom and Danni were very happy, no sad faces about the day being spoilt ~ because it wasn't. They said lovely words about Trevor and lit a candle in his memory. They expressed kind words too about the value of us mothers in their lives. Danni's Mum and I were invited to sign the marriage certificate as witnesses (unexpected and lovely) and overall it was just beautiful. They work well together, have respect and love for each other and it's great to see them tie the knot. They are now Mr & Mrs T & D Wise, just as Trevor and I were. Special!
How unlike me to give far and away more information than was sought! Sorry about that.
I might see if I can post some snaps in the album.
Keep well, Julia and well done also for the wonderful support you offer all newbies. You're sort of carrying the welcome lantern these days, aren't you?
Lovely to hear from you
Cheers
Deborah

Hey Debs cant believe it is a year ago already - blimey! Glad to hear that the wedding went well. It does sound lovely.

Chaz seems to be doing pretty well. We have just come back from a holiday in Portugal which was great.

I still read regualrly but am a but rubbish at posting unless I think I have something particularly relevant to say. Am constantly impressed by you, Mimi and Julia welcoming new comers to this site.

Big hugs to you all and congratulations Julia on your graduation!
Cath
