Hi Folks,
I know I'm probably being stupid/paranoid but I know you will all understand. (I daren't say anything to my lads, they would freak!) I just need to get this out, it's going round in my head.
A couple of weeks ago I noticed a nippy feeling on my tongue. Just near the tip and to the side and the opposite side to jaw removal. It felt as if there was an ulcer starting. The feeling kept coming and going until the last couple of days, now it's annoying and to be honest I didn't even bother looking-until this morning.
I really wish I hadn't!!
Imagine the suface size of a baked bean and cut the bean to about a third of the thickness.
It's not that different in colour but looks slightly opaque.
It's not sore on the surface, the nippy feeling is on the inside.
I'm crapping it!!!!!!
I know, I know, I'm paranoid. In all likleyhood my tongue position as it is, is rubbing on a tooth and creating the lump.
I've a check up appointment with my consultant on the 8th May so I'll get him to take a look then but since this morning I'm thinking horrible things!! Ashamed
Thanks, just needed to tell it to a group who understands.

Hi Susie, you are quite normal to be paranoid ,i think evryone who has undergone treatment has this right at all times .I think Susie it is a type of ulcer due to a bit of friction either with your teeth or even something you have put in your mouth .Paul is prone to this type of thing also .

Try and hold on to this thought till your appointment and do the usual for ulcers and errosions due to mouth friction .Use the bicarb of Soda and salt if you can,if you have any gel clair try that.
Paul sometimes causes we sores even with his toothebrush occasionally when the heads need replaced Sue.

Keep calm and let us know how you get on. Sods law it will disperse the day before you go to hospital .

Bugger Suze, as if you dont have enough to put up with. I agree with Fran, thats a long time to wait. Perhaps Pauls's suggestion is good, anything is worth a go rather than that long wait.

Hi All,
Thanks a million for the answers, sharing it has actually made it less scary!!
I know I'm probably winding myself up about nothing but of course it doesn't stop me doing it!!!
As I said, I couldn't tell my lads. To be honest they are just starting to treat me as their mum again and not something to be wrapped up in cotton wool. I had to fight tooth and nail with them when I went back to college as they thought it was too soon and I was still not well enough and now I'm back at the gym I get a three times weekly inquisition from my eldest David about protein, and carbs and and and! even though I'm sitting my diploma in nutriton next month. Ahh Red Face they are great lads really, I would not have come this far without them but I do not want to send them into a panic.
I could go to the max-fax clinic anytime before the 8th. I've done it before when things have gone wrong and have not had an appointment, the consultant is very good but to be honest I think I'd probably end up feeling a t*t for panicing.
I will let you know how I get on and probably will have to put a whole post of red faces!!!
Thanks for the support, you have all really helped.
SusieR xx

Never mind feeling a whotsit. Get down there, you might be able to stand the suspense but we can’t.

SusieR,
I know how you are feeling, went to the dentist the other day and she found a white spot at the back of my tongue. Now I have my appointment sooner than you, this Wednesday. But ever since my mind has been reeling. I am thinking the same as you, probably nothing serious. Then I deal with the buts and what ifs. I haven't told any either. Just trying to maintain my sanity.

I would go ahead and be seen now, don't know what a whotsit is, but it can't be good. Go and put your mind at ease.

Hi Leann,
A whotsit is a swear word which if I used it hear would probably get told off by Dr Joshi. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
My bump, lump, swelling does not look like the last time, I'm sure I'm scaring myself for nothing, I do think it is probably my tongue rubbing on my teeth at that side, as my whole jaw (or lack of it) has made a significant move to the left hand side and because my tongue has limited movement it is causing friction on that side.
You can guess how it is though. We are now so hyper aware of any changes and the smallest thing can set off a mad panic.
Good luck with your check up mine is on Thursday and I'll post to let all know the outcome.
Thanks
SusieR
