Just wanted to thank Dr Joffi for this site and for everyone who keeps it going.

I haven't posted here for some time
1) because my mouth condition is stable and I have haad no problems
2) because my focus has switched to the breast cancer with which I was diagnosed last October and which is progressing rapidly and relentlessly. I now have secondaries in my spine, lungs, liver and brain and the outlook is not good.

When I was going through treatment for my mouth tumour I found this site an invaluable source of information and support. So, thanks again and best wishes to all.

Hi there Maggie, good to hear from you,Im glad your mouth condition is stable, but sorry to hear the Breast Cancer is progressing. Are you planning to have any treatment? there are so many combinations of drugs for BC nowadays, its quite bewildering.
You will probably know already but 2 good websites are
www.breastcancercare.org.uk &
WWW.phpbbserver.com/breastcancer, both of which have Forums which are a great source of information & support from ladies at varying stages of the disease. Join in, they are very welcoming
All the best, Fran.

Thanks, Fran. Yes I use both the sites you mention the second one is particularly good for chatting and mutual support. I have had a lot of treatment but so far the chemo hasn't worked, just made me feel ill. I am having whole brain radiotherapy at the moment and then discussing going back on chemo. I may stop treatment before too long though - I do want some quality of life for the time I have left

Hello Maggie

Thanks for the thanks. I am sorry you haven't been winning the fight with breast cancer. Do your best and try to enjoy each day whatever the outcome of the treatment. We are all here for only varying periods of time and it is how we live it that counts not how long.

Look out for a joke specially to make you smile! Take care.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee

Cancer drugs get draft approval
quote:
Thursday, 10 August 2006

A new class of breast cancer drugs have been given final draft approval by NHS drug advisers in England.
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence recommended the use of three aromatase inhibitors for early breast cancer in post-menopausal women.

The inhibitors target the hormone that is responsible for the growth and recurrence of many breast cancers.

NICE said the treatments should be used alongside or instead of the "gold standard" drug tamoxifen after surgery.

The inhibitors - anastrozole (Arimidex), exemestane (Aromasin) and letrozole (Femara) - reduce the risk of tumours spreading following surgery and could benefit thousands of women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer.
