Hi everyone

I received the results of my Radical Neck Dissection and R/T is required. Would it be possible to let me know what sort of side effects I am likely to have from this treatment please? Confused

Hi Sukie
Sorry you need the Rt as well
After my 3ops ,i had to have RT to the right side of my neck 5days out of seven days over 6 weeks

Dr Dunlop shielded my glands and my neck was sore inside and out the side effects were not to bad

This time i had RT to the opposite side and my glands were affected and there was lots of side effects

i think it depends on were it will be given and the strength of it which will need to be worked out but Dr Dunlop will look after you and Magaret his assistant

Keep Going,Take care

Hi Sukie,

I can't help you with that one. I only had seven sessions before having to give up. (See my last post on 'Did you miss me') Reading other peoples posts it seems to be a luck of the draw thing, some have a bad time and others not so bad. Hopefully you will be one of the not so bad ones.

Hello Sukie

Unfortunately if radiotherapy is neccessary, it is. You can read up about Radiation Therapy Side Effects and Ways to Manage Them and other side effects of treatment here. You may find the advice in Radiotherapy (Skin protection) useful. I am sure, our members will be able to give you some tips on helping you through this.

Best wishes
