hi everyone

cant believe how time is flying. i have have only got 5 more RT,s left. i have to say though that i feel awful!! im so whacked out most of the time now,my scar is red and sore,my tongue tingles and my mouth is as dry as the sahara!! and to top it all my hair as started falling out at the exit site. i just keep telling myself its all worth it and i wont feel like this forever. i think iv got just about every side affect except weight loss and i bloody well wanted that one!lol. my nights are quite dificult because im waking often and im almost choking, i think its because of some swelling and dryness. all the hospital staff have been so good, i have got medication as soon as i had a prob, i have had advice and support and they let me twitter and moan and still keep a smile on their faces and im sure they must have heard it all a million times!! i really cant fault them. anyway thats my moan for now!!! stay well everyone and hang on in there!

Christine well done, My husband Graham is 14 days into 30. He is finding nights especially hard as well, he mouths breaths so that obviously makes things drier. Have you found anything that helps, he sips water through the night and has pain killers, only paracetomol. I think it might be time for something stronger?

hi muse

i take my spray to bed with me now along with water and the hospital have just given me some lozenges to moisten my mouth which i take in bed just before settling down. i have got extra pillows and try to sleep more upright.im also taking diclofenac. At the hospital today they have prescribed me a nebuliser so im going to give that a try too.all these help although i do still wake. i would agree that graham should ask for stronger meds. hope this helps

Hi Christine, 5 left, not a too far sight to aim got. Myself I have another 8 to go. I agree, its tough treatment, but apparently for the best.

Soreness is difficult and I can only half imagine the pain you are having if we are similar. Have you got a decent stereo or even a walkman, I find this helps, if not brings on the off feeling of intense emotion.

I never found the NEB any use. I think the mucus I produce was seen in Aliens, and this gadget ain't gonna dent this problem. So a dry mouth, how is your breathing through your nose. Easy to say being a dive instructor but breathing control has been my most beneficial aid in this saga.

When I reached 14 days and treatments like Graham, it was on to the cocotamol, then a few days later the morphine.

You will get there soon for sure. Then its time to have a look at the menu, I can't stop thinking of oven cooked cumberland sausage, mash, gravy with onions and maybe an Aunt Bessie Yorkshire. Maybe I write to Ensure makers next, gets dull apticot and raspberry.

Chloe,
Funny that, i did the same but it never happened either! Good intentions though right?!

Christine,
you're attitude is just perfect for the horrible time you're going through. & just hold on to the fact that it will get better.
We can all empathise with how awful your feeling.
Keep up the good work!

Graham has a pile of books waiting to be read, no chance. He is sooo not a TV person, but he is watching so much more than ever before. Maybe it's a can't concentrate on anything of real interest type thing.

I find it so difficult to watch someone I care about so much go through this hell. Mostly I feel I want to take some of it from him, all I can do is be his voice, here and with medical people as he is struggling with his voice right now. Even his diabetic medicine has to be liquid (expensive) as he can't swallow any tablets whatever their size.
