I thought I might mention the newish computer to computer voice chat system called VOIP (voice over internet protocol) system. This allows people with the set up to talk to each other all over the world at local telephone charges. Download of the software (www.skype.com), is free.

The system is quite simple to set up (some earlier computers need a headset, later ones not required, just talk to computer built-in microphone). Each Skype user can call another Skype user to speak over their computers for free. The system will tell you if he/she is 'on line.'It even tells you that you are connected and to start talking.
If the other person to be called is a landline telephone number, you will be charged.
Charging: You will be asked for 10 Euros on credit card for minimum of 10 hours chat! Worth a try surely? A great system to bring us even closer together.
