It could just be a throat infection which seems to be rife at the moment but can't you see if you can't bring your appointment forward, ring your consultant or his secretary and tell them your fears, let them put your mind at rest. Fingers crossed everything is alright. Let us know how you get on.

It must be terrible because of course, it's your first thought - is it back - when in fact there are loads of people around with colds and sore throats at the moment (me for one !).

I hope it's nothing more serious than that.

Hi Shirl ,there are a lot of throat viruses around at moment and when it is in the throat the glands always become swollen .I can understand you worrying it is always the first thing that crosses your mind .Paul has a sore throat down one side at moment and his glands are also swollen .We went to doctors and he has confirmed he has a normal sore throat and has been given antibiotics .

Try and not get too stressed and if the normal sore throat remedies are not giving you peace of mind phone and bring ur appointment forward .

Words are always easy to say but do not stop the worrying .What about a wee visit to your GP in meantime .

This is definatley the season for colds and throat infections.

Cosy up and pamper yourself .

Bell and Paul .

It's a long time until the 31st and I hope whatever you have goes away before your appointment.

In another thread I described being fully convinced that I had brain cancer because I was a little dizzy, tilting when I walked and bumping into things. Turned out to be water in my ear from swimming the day before - managed to pop my ear as you would while flying, and voila! Brain cancer cured!

We play a lot of head games with ourselves and most of the time our symptoms are normal things that happen to normal people all the time (normally!) - since we're no longer normal, the slightest deviation convinces us of the worst.

Best of luck to you and hope you're on a stand-by list for an earlier appointment.

Mimi

I wonder how many carers have convinced themselves they have the same symptoms as their patients. I have had several, except the weight loss which I wouldn't have minded.

Hi Shirl. was wondering how you was doing! Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling too good. Like everyone says it's that time of year when all these strange viruses start rearing thier heads. It could be anything. I know though that the waiting is horrendous. We all play these mind games. Just take it one day at a time until your appt. Sometimes if you speak to the macmillan (I think it's Rosie at the QA) then they can push to get your appointment brought forward if you explain that you are really worried. Will keep you in my thoughts, keep us posted.

Keep positive

Mum
