Hello Carol, I know how agonising it is to be waiting for scan results but, in my experience, two weeks or more is not uncommon. The results will be through in about a week but the expert who reads these scan results may have a back log or be away for some reason. I know on one occasion I had an appointment with my consultant just one week after a scan and the report wasn't on his desk. He requested the results, which arrived on a piece of paper with a nurse and he was at great pains to say that this is not a definitive report - it's someone else's job to go through them with "a fine tooth comb" and provide the final report. I hope this helps , if only to let you know that you are not alone. If you can't get an appointment to see your consultant soon perhaps your GP could push things for you. All good wishes to you both and I hope the results turn out to be negative. Brenda | ||||

Hello Carol That's good news about Ray's recovery from his treatment. Unfortunately, cancer patients often develop anaemia from the cancer itself, from treatments used to manage the disease, or from both. While killing cancer cells, many chemotherapy agents and radiation treatment hamper red blood cell production. A CT scan is done to rule any other pathology (that affect absorption of Iron, etc needed in RBC production) before they treat it. As Brenda says, you need to be patient. Let us know what they say.
