Morning Guys, Two more of my teeth came out today at the bottom dour in all.
I am more devestated by that than not been able to eat properly! I went to see my consultant, they are so good at the Max Fax unit (UCH) gave me appointment same day. The consultant says they want to leave well alone for as long as possilbe to keep up my quality of life ! BUT I am worried sick the day they say we are going to take them out! How do you cope when you know that the exstractions are going to take in the very near future and there is a very HIGH risk of infection to the jaw which we all know is not nice to say the least. Some words of encouragagement would be nice ( thanks Pikeman in advance Many Thanks Paul |

Morning Paul, good to hear you still have some teeth to fall out. At least I'm guessing that they just fall out.
Regarding extractions, I can't help wondering that if you're left alone long enough they won't need to do any extractions. At least there'll be fewer, and possibly the fewer extractions the less chance there will be of infection. But then again there's the old Murphy's Law saying "If anything can go wrong, then it will go wrong". There, I knew I'd think of something positive to say to you!! |

Hi Paul
It seems like the crowns of your teeth broke off. It happens when the decay (radiation caries) softens and weakens the neck at the gumline. Often, there is no pain as the nerve scleroses or is shrivelled up. So you may not get an infection! Hence , the 'wait and see' approach. Meanwhile, keep the stumps clean with a toothbrush and fluoride gel. You could get a dentist to patch over the stumps with a filling material to present a smooth surface that also protects the surface decaying further. To regain your smile, a denture plate that sat on the stumps of the teeth could be made If the roots require extraction, this would usually be done as atraumatically as possible under antibiotic cover. It is not inevitable that you would get a bone infection following the extractions. Best wishes Vinod :coffee: Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice.
