HI everyone, mom woke up on Friday in terrible pain with her face. her right sid had swolen up and she looked like a hamster! I took mom straight to the hospital. They said her saliva gland was blocked and gave her anti-biotics, they said its quite common after radio. However over the weekend she has a swelling under her ear and its as hard as a stone. Wondered if anyone had any advice. She is on augmentin ani-biotics 3 times daily, but if anything she has got worse since she started them. OliverThis message has been edited. hi oli my husband a few years ago had a blocked saliva gland, the g.p advised him to massage the area which helped a great deal and after a week the blockage had gone,it depends how painful the area is i guess but hopefully someone else will see your post and have some better advice for you.love shirl xxx

Hi Oliver, My partner swelled up like a hamster and still has bad lymphedema. However, I would get on the phone and ask the oncology nurse specialist for advice about the hard area. I would not advise massaging area until your Mum has had her scan and been told she he is cancer free. Best Cathy
