Here is what I know so far: Papa has stage 0-1 SCC of the oral tongue, one biopsy says well differentiated and one says moderately differentiated, and it takes up about 1/3 of the left side of the tongue and he has no trouble swallowing. We just found all this out a few days ago. But we need to intervene in time before papa just goes to the first surgeon who wants to remove the cancer, with some good questions...to make sure papa gets the best help possible. If I had all the time in the world, I would read through every post in here. As it is, can anyone give me some specific ideas or references? I have the very basic info off the site and am looking for information on 1. how to identify whether the treating oncologist is as good/experienced as we need. medicine is very different in india, while people go there to get procedures done, going there for preventive and long-term care is a whole different thing and doctors vary quite a bit in their competence.
Thanks in advance for ANY help or links you have. I have about 5 hours before I get on the phone with a doc one of the memebers here (Anath) suggested. Thanks, Natasha |
