Dear Dave,

Berfor anything else - Congratulations and celebrations on your promotion. This is an incentive to almost everyone here that once you make up your mind to do it - you can. Truly, well done.
Keeping my background in view, I would have said Mercedes Benz but that is only if you were my enemy. I advise all my friends who live a reasonably ok life not to buy the car as the upkeep is massive amount and a waste of hard earned money. Let the Richie Rich's play around.

I really do not know your budget but as its just Sue and You are usually going to be using the car, I would suggest a very compact model - something like the A class of the Mercedes Benz or what they call the fun car. Almost all manafacturers have come around with their versions and all are doing wee as wether its the UK or India - traffic is overflowing and parking etc. becomes a problem. Sonya ( my wife) had a Hyundai Santro and trust me its value for money. The leg space got the driver and the co passanger is great though the same cannot be said to the people at the back (Dr. Joshi would verify!!!). The A/c is superb and so is the heating. I am not sure how much you care for music but as both my sons ( who also drive) and Sonya are music crazy they have installed a Sony xplode and I hate going out with any of them. You could always go in for a simple make with or without a CD changer and make a few outer changes to protect the car - you could put rubber pieces near the handles - so that when you open the door you do not hurt another car along side or yours against a wll etc. You could put one of those nice designs on either side of the car doors and include the baoonet and the bumper as they are florascent. Go onto the sites and check out of small car sites and you will be able to find the one wou want and one that both Sue and you will be comfortable in.

Lots and lots of love and a big bear hug to both of you...
.... and congratulations once again,
Ananth

Hi Dave and Sue, So pleased things are on the up for the two of you and that D is now back to work. If you want a Merc, I am seriously thinking of getting rid of my old 500 SL. I have owned it since 1986 - I bought it in my halcyon days when I was making lots of dosh. It was the only car I every wanted and is actually very much like me. A stylish elegant older model, expensive to run - but the body work's going.

Dave,
If you are thinking of driving the car in the future consider how far you can turn your head to each side and if you have difficulty then look at cars which can have special mirrors that extend the field of view. The glass in these mirrors is called aspheric glass and has a curvature at the outside edge to help eliminate blind spots. There are also mirrors with inbuilt cameras that can detect vehicles in your blind spot, and illuminate a light within the mirror to warn you of this. My husband worked on the developement of these mirrors, so if you like I will ask him what make of car these mirrors are fitted on.

Can anybody recommend a car with a good field of vision? From my own personsal experience I would not recommend a convertible because although the visibility is fantastic when the roof is down, the rear mirror is extremely small, and you need to tuirn ayour head a long way to see out of it. I seriously considered changing my car, but luckily the flexibility in my neck improved as the weather worsened last year.

Have fun choosing a new car Dave & Sue, but do take a really long test drive, or even consider hiring a similar car for a day so that you can really put it through its paces.

Jenni

Congratulations Dave,
It is great you are back at work, and with a promotion how exciting for you. You have come such a long way and it is nice to see the people we care about moving on with their lives in such a positive way. good luck with the car buying, I think just go for some luxury and enjoy the drive.
Best Wishes, Tracey

Dave, that's fantastic news. I am using you as a yardstick (so to speak - if you don't mind - LOL) for my mother, who thinks she is making no progress at all.

I told her about your Sunday Roast success, when only so recently you couldn't eat anything and I think it helps her - so thanks.

Congratulations on your promotion offer too - remember though, take it easy. Your health and recovery is what is more important than anything else. Hugs xx

Dear Angie sweetheart,
Wow, that is one great car to own and if you had that car her I would have taken it directly to my ex office and got the whole car refrubished! An SL 500!! 1986 - thats costs money and plenty of it!!!.I find it so odd that here I am -one who used to drive some of the most expensive cars in the world and today I am not even allowed to drive a car! Well - thats life.
I used to face a lot of problems in the UK with smuggled cars - believe it or not. It is the central point for all the great market that spreads all over Africa. As my job description was such I used to try and find out the source but rarely took any action as was in no mood for getting my head sliced off.
Lots and lots of love xxx and hugs,
Ananth

Dear Jennie and Dave,
I think what Jennie is talking about makes a lot of sense and your side view mirrors shoule be in good shape to ensure your car remains that way - they are not decorative pieces as I have seen a lot of people who do not use it.If you find the rear view mirror too small - you can attach a bigger on on top of the existing one and as far as turning your neck for reversing - you can always get a parking kit - which keeps beeping as long as you are backing and stops when the the sidtance beteen your car and whatever is behind is fine. Its 99% foolproof.

Jenni,
There is an ideal car that I do not think a lot of people drive in the UK but see if you can get a test drive - a loaded Skoda. You dont have to strain your neck AT all. Its also quite price competetive and looks good. Skoda is no longer a block of metal what they would call a car - but now on the same level as on with middle level cars and very comfortable.
Check it out.

Lots and lots of love and hugs,
Ananth

Once again - Dave and Sue ( I named Dave first for the first time!)- once again congratulations and I really pray that you will keep rising to greater hieghts. This is just the start of something good that has happened after you have over come the worst nightmare- the battle with the illness.
You are the Man!!!!!

Hi Dave and Sue
The poached eggs and cheese sauce alone sound like a major milestone achievement but throw in the toast as well and it's monumental achievement for you! Wooo hooooo. Great stuff!
