I have just come accross an article about major arteries in the neck, which originate from the major blood vessels out of the heart and pass through a bony canal formed by the cervical vertebrae and enter the skull; if the blood flow becomes restricted, due to trauma of neck surgery, symtoms, chronic fatique, dizziness, loss of smell and taste, reduced libido, short term memory loss.I was interested in this as I am feeling giddy most of the time, and am loath to consult my Doc, as I know he will come up this something stupid, and I am finding more and more that we have to become our own medical students.

Hello Garancew--I so totally agree that we have to become our own medical students working on a lot of different bodies and discarding the bits which won't help the healthy(?) body we are trying to re-create. One must be very careful not to overdose on knowledge only partially learned though. Or confusion comes fast!!
I've fpound that in the States they normally do surgery first and radiotherapy etc. afterrwards. The opposite way round fromn the uk AND WHO IS TO SAY WHICH IS BEST? Sorryry for caps. Don't they look angry.
Your findings about symptoms matched the dizziness in the head I sometimes get when settling down to sleep which I never had before the cancer returned. Ans the short term memory loss. Going to Tesco and coming away without the maibn thing I went in for.
But a psychiatrist friend just laughed when I sugested early Alzheimers. She said that although the brain is an amazing stpendous thing it just cannot hold EVERYTHING. The oldedr we get the more knowledge. we accumulate. So a clever brain sieves through, discards what it regards as u nimportant, leaving plenty of room for the BIG PROBLEMS of the u iverse.
But how do I explain top the dog that I've forgotten her dog mixer!
Best regards Ishbel.

Hi Garance, I was interested to read your posting regarding removal of vains in the neck. I had radical neck disection which included removal of my jugular vain. I was informed that this is not a problem as there are many other vains at the other side which would cope adequatly.
