The only thing I can write on this Russ is that the nearer you are to the radiotherapy treatment the liklihood of a sore throat is stronger. I still have bad throats that come and go, but have noticed that there were more nearer the rads timescale. You are still only 6 months away and your body has been attacked and is still trying to recover.

If you are worried and think it not normal take your own gut advice and see your consultant. Mine recently told me his duty was to reassure as much as to treat and find things.

Russ,

Iam 3 months post radiation and my consultant told me this morning (after having a good look at my throat via a scope) that my throat shows little radiotherapy damage. However, I guess we are all different and all heal at different rates.

Just wondering Russ if you have thrush. If taking plain yoghurt is very comforting chances are that you have thrush.

Norm how many weeks did you have and was radiotherapy everywhere over the lower head and neck or to a localised area?

Also some people just heal really better than others. Good luck to you if you have few post symptoms.

Hi Pauline,
I had 6 weeks of radiotherapy to my throat and lower jaw area - both sides.

I know I am really fotunate to have so few post treatment symptoms.

Hi Hal & welcome,

Try posting on the introduce yourself forum or the questions & answers. This is a wonderful place for support. If you are worrying about your appointment give them a call. I know my son had to sometimes wait 10 days for his appointment to come through. stay positive and keep us informed.
