Just discovered that as I am 66 my annual policy is no longer in force. Also the insurance companies are not falling over themselves to cover a cancer patient who is in remission. Anyone out there who has found a non ageist cancer aware company who can help, please let me know. :banghead: I love to travel and the loss of the isurance cover is very frustrating :banghead:

Hello Derek

What about Big Grin SAGA? I am surprised that travel insurance is a problem. If you do come up with a company that is helpful, do let us know.

Best wishes

Hello Derek

I mentioned your difficulty with getting travel cover to my wife and she came up with this link to MediCover Travel Smiler . Their slogan is:
"Travel Insurance For Those Who Have Suffered From Illness Or Accident"

Let me know if they can help with your problem.

Best wishes

HI, The last travel insurance I got was for a year due now for renewel but am looking around and they would not cover me for ANYTHING related to my Cancer. I thought anyway in my case I would just get a flight home if I needed to, but it makes me angry that for alot of years these companies are willing to take your money but when a risk is involved they back down. Mad

Hi

Why don't you guys organise to highlight this problem to the cancer czar, MPs, cancer charities, 'Which", and whoever might be able to help get the insurance companies to be more reasonable? Smiler

Best wishes

Paul - pure coincidence.

This morning I received my "Head & Neck Newsletter" from Cookridge which carries an item about Holiday Insurance. It lists a few insurers who specialise in insuring people with medical conditions. I'm hoping they object to me listing them for your guidance:-

1. BRADFORD & BINGLEY, 0800 435 642
2. LEISURE CARE INSURANCE 01793 750 5150
3. SWINDON 01793 514 199 (??)
4. OUR WAY TRAVEL 0800 281 713
5. FREE SPIRIT 01428 653 555
6. RAC TRAVEL 0800 072 6999
7. HELP THE AGED SEE LOCAL LISTINGS
8. POST OFFICE INSURANCE LOCAL POST OFFICES

The Newsletter does print a caveat "Remember! check the small print and declare all your conditions. If you don't you may end up in deep trouble".

It would be interesting to hear how they react to enquiries from cancer patients. Anyway hope these help.

HI Dr Joshi and Pikeman, I read both your comments and I will phone some of the insurance companies on Monday. In the meantime I have contacted my local Councillor about the way the insurance people treat you when your luck is down.I do feel they could be more sympathetic it is not as if I want it for nothing.I am scared to mention the word Cancer sometimes as people say do you know you cannot get this or that and have you told so and so!Will keep you posted what happens
