dr. joshi,
i am having my 2nd surgery for acinic cell carcinoma next friday. total neck disection and they will take out the deep lobe of the parotid gland. the tumor the took out last week had open margins not closed so it has advanced to surrounding tissue ( and we dont know where else).well my question is that i havent had any body scans (pet or mri or others) and i will not have any before my next surgery. he acted like i would after the surgery some time. it just seems to me that they would do the pet scan before the next surgery to get a better idea of what they are dealing with. am i wrong? is there a reason they are waiting? wondering your opinion on this. i also havent had any blood tests or seem any other specialists till after this surgery. is that normal?
thanks, cybil virostko
