Ananth,
We do things a little differently over here. We tend to visit the dentist every 6 months or so as routine. Whether or not we NEED ine. (Despite what the Americans think of us steriotypicaly -~*Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds*~- ...Albert Einstein |

I think that if you are uncomfortable with her you may want to ask other people and find another. Of course, ask they dentist if they have expereience and knowledge about mouth cancert.

Think I'm going to try her once more and see if I feel ok. If not, I'll find someone else. I am probably being paranoid. Cheers, Hagg.

Hi! Hagg,
Last Wednesday whilst biting into a KFC Twister I found a bit of one of my front teeth in my mouth(the gold cap about 7mm X 5 mm) and this put me into panic mode (a bit) so I rang my Dentist (Public) and had an appointment for the next day. Thinking I would be seeing my regular dentist and probably being told to see my Local Dentist (and having to pay) when I arrived at the Clinic there was this young chick from Ceylon (about 17 years old I think), well she had a look tried to replace the cap but there was other damage so without waiting she built up a new ceramic tooth around the stump and now I look handsome again Anyway whay was I talking about OH yeh the new Dentist, she was very efficient and full of confidence and didn't cost a dime, penny, cent what ever you coinage is, but all things aside if you are happy in the end with whome ever is in you mouth then go with, take care Hagg your 11 years must be gone by now. All the best buddy TREV |

Hi Chelle,
This is a question directed to you and to some extent Hagg - why is there so much insistence that you have to visit your dentist (not just any but your prefered one)if your teeth are all fine and healthy. I know you said its mandatory but I really see no reason if proper hyegine is mantained. I have all my teeth intact and have never been to a doctor as far as I can remember. lots of love, xxx and hugs, Ananth Live on your beliefs and strength- and you will become immortal. |

Trev, I know what you mean about the hyperbaric. I had to have 6 weeks of it for 7 hours a day to have a wisdom tooth pulled out. Painless but very boring. I was talking to someone about it the other day and they have dvd players rigged up to watch now to pass the time. All I had 9 years ago was a big supply of bike mags to read. My 11 years is up on 20th september
Annanth, it's like Mimi says. Preventative is the way to go. If I go regularly enough the problems can be spotted when they are small and I wont have to pay loads, plus, I get my moments where I worry about changes in my mouth so I figure it's better to have a dentist who knows me and how I think. Mimi, cheers, you explained that much better than I could 11 YEARS and still kicking it. Never give up the fight. |

Sorry folks but I had to delete another two messages (by Mimi and Ananth) as they were leading to a place I doubt they would want it to end. So please think before you write as it is easy to misconstrue words over the Internet when there are no tonal or facial clues as to the intent. Be kind to one another. That is the purpose of online support. It is not the place for 'i told you so' type remarks or 'one upmanship', etc.
Best wishes Vinod Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice. Dear Vinod,
I have nothing against anyone - however, neither am I type to read sarcastic comments. I just give it back as good or better then I get it.Strange as it may seem, we Indians are a bit educated as well and understand how to stand each time we fall. If all are okay - I am okay. I was in no mood for any kind of a "have it out". A simple question can induce such a post is tough to even accept.I am not sorry for what I posted but how many times should I apologise to you and to everyone? The one upmanship only comes in when one thinks he/she is superior to the other. That is a fact and noone can deny that. Warm regards,. Ananth This message has been edited. Hi Hagg
it's been a while since i posted anything but felt a need to reply to yours, you and the rest of the regulars on here helped me so much with the paranoia side of this. you know the dentist you had was good because they spotted it first, mine didnt even notice anything ,some are money orientated and some patient,it's pot luck but you know vigilance is the best policy and YOU are the best judge of how you feel, double check and triple check,it's your paranoia not theirs. finally got my false teeth and really don't rate them, eat easier now without them but it's a cosmetic thing and i'm glad i had the originals removed, the glue is a horrible thing to put up with but not as bad as the ultimate outcome. 11 years and still kicking means you know it's all luck, your'e an inspiration to me and helped me no end, but knowing that help from non-proffessionals that have no agenda and just experience is essential to all. I hope it all works out and it's a fine dentist you have ,but if you ask them the questions you need to ask they shouldn't get offended if you think you need a second opinion. good luck |
