My step dad has just had a major operation to remove his mouth cancer but they have removed his tongue and now is unable to speak and is struggling to communicate does any body have any information on tongue rebuilding or any advice that may help us.

My dad had part of his tongue taken out and he had a very hard time speaking. He had a therapist that came 2x a day and helped him to speak well. Certain words sounded fine others did not and believe me your dad is going to be very frustrated. Just keep helping him with the speech and hopefully in no time he will be speaking will little notice. You dont realize how much you depend on your tongue until its gone or partially gone
