Hello Everyone
Thanks once again for all your encouragement.
Well ~ where to start?
Have I said how brave/strong/tough/resilient that husband of mine is? He is recovering so well I ask myself if they all know what they are talking about! Trevor is looking and sounding so much better than anyone could have imagined. He's doing great.
Yesterday they removed the epidural and he walked (wobbly, but walking nonetheless) to and from the shower and managed to sit out of bed for a fair while before he faded a bit.
Still nothing going down the hatch ~ maybe some soft food tomorrow, custard etc. He is very much over munching on ice chips and spitting them out!
T just phoned and he is going onto clear fluids today! Much excitement. He sounds so well, it's great.
The oncology boss visited yesterday and they will see T in 3 weeks by which time they'll have tried to figure out a plan of action. He will have a PET scan just as soon as that can be arranged so they will know if treatment is to be radical (curative) or palliative. That gave Trevor a boost because it was the first time anyone has hinted at something positive in the last 2 weeks. The radiologist is coming to see him today.
We asked about difficulties that might be associated with r/t (and don't we all know there are plenty!) and the oncy said 'you shouldn't have any bother. Perhaps some diarhorrea. Do you think that will be anything like 'two weeks after your r/t, you'll be fine'???
Whatever, so far so good.
I'd better get myself organised and off to the hospital. Will keep you all posted with Tricky Trev's progress. He can't wait to get home and maybe that's the driving force behind his recovery. Who cares what it is ..........
Love to you all
Deborah

Hi Debs and Trev

Great to hear that Trev's sat up in bed munching on ice and hopefully today munching on custard.
Keep us up to date on what's happening and give him a big hug from all of us over here.

Regards

Hi All
The whole laptop in the hospital thing, didn't really work out ~ no room, fuzzy heads etc so I have been printing off everyone's messages for Trevor, who yesterday was clear headed enough to get through them. He has asked me to thank you all so much for your thoughts and best wishes. He can't wait to be able to get to and do it himself but in the meantime, I'm his go between.
My last post was a bit of a mix up really because a lot of stuff didn't actually come to pass.
Yesterday T had a PET scan, and a CT scan of his chest. They say the oncologists will have the results from those on Monday.
Today ~ much excitement as we celebrate the symphonic melody of a single flatus! Twas music to the ear (apparently ~ I wasn't there!) and cause for much celebration. Since the clear fluids etc were cancelled the other day, it was with even more celebration that Trevor actually put something (namely, Iced Coffee) down the hatch today. As a reward he had his ng tube out. He was like a free man and it was great to get a kiss without the hindrance of that horrid thing!
Also today (yes! it was a very big day) they started oral oxycodone and reduced doses of IV pain relief with a view to disconnecting the latter, soon.
It has been a very long week but lots of recovery has been achieved so that's great. The biggest wait now (yet another biggest wait) is the scan results on Monday. We've been through that before so we'll get through it again this time, thanks to your support.
Thanks for everything. Will keep you all posted.
Cheers
Deborah
