Dry Mouth years after radiation

My father had radiation for throat cancer approx. 6 years ago and could manage his dry mouth. Recently he is having great difficulty in swallowing. The majority of his food is sticking to his teeth and he is having problems managing this! He is also losing weight which is unexplained, he does eat all the time though. Is this another side affect from the radiation? or signs of a new problem?
Thanks for any input on this as I am very concerned about him and of course he doesn't want to go to the dr.

Hi Susie, I,ve just seen your post. Its a struggle to get men to go to the Doctor isnt it? .There are many causes of unexplained weight loss other than Cancer, but it should always be investigated, so use all your powers of pursuasion to get him to the Docs.
Hope all goes well.
