That's the way to get noticed!
How much effort are we putting into mouth cancers research? The difference in spending on research into the various cancers in the UK has only just been counted for the first time. The newly-formed National Cancer Research Institute has analysed nearly all the cancer research in the UK and produced the first figures on how much is spent on each type of cancer (for the year 2000) in their Strategic Analysis (2002) It is meant to be an accurate overview of the majority of cancer research activity that is currently going on in the UK. What this reveals is: As you can see, there is proportionally more money spent on research into ovarian and cervical cancer, but the ratio of number of cases to the money spent on breast cancer and prostate cancer is not too different. I couldn't find the figure for mouth/oral cancers but pharyngeal and oesophageal accounted for 1% of total spend each while breast cancer gets 18%. This article An Analysis of Cancer Research Funding in the UK appeared in the Nature Reviews Journal February 2003 Volume 3 no.2 Other data: Breast 60 m 39,000 (18% of total spend) Ovary 20 m 6,900 Cervix 12 m 3,200 Uterus 2 m 5,000 Prostate 28 m 23,000 Testicular under 2 m 1,900 So perhaps , mouth cancers need to do a David Blaine! Too right David.
I can't beleive 250000 people bothered going to look at a guy in a plastic box. Weird. I've only got 5 pins ordered so far. Will you be showing the clothing on your site on Wednesday.? |

Derek, where can we see a picture of what the pin looks like? The FaceFax logo looks a bit wide for a pin

Hi Vinod & Pikeman
the logo you see above is going to be on the left breast on clothing (except the cap of course  ) you should be able to order from the Face Fax web site Wednesday/Thursday this week i.e tomorrow onwards. The pin is made of rolled gold and is the little profile on the left hand side below the navigation buttons, the minimum suggested price is 1 but we had to raise it to 2 on the web to include p&p :twocents: just incase some people from the U.S.A wants 1, but it's going to a good cause right? the money is not so important, it's the making people aware that we are getting them |

Derek, I really don't know how to react to some people.
I went back to the 5 who had ordered pin badges and told them about the price increase and why. Would you believe 3 cancelled? These same guys think nothing of paying sort of 5 for 20 cigs, but an extra 1 for a charity freaks them out. I can only hope I was never like that when I somked and drank. Anyway I add one for my wife (as a breast cancer survivor and lymphoedma sufferer she keeps nailing me for her stuff), one for my daugther and one for me I'm back up to 5. Sorry I had to get that off my chest. Let's see if I can do anything with the apparel. |
