It was quite euphoric yesterday. I was actually able to swallow chopped up king-size prawns fried in garlic for the first time in 6 years. I am so used to blended stuff that this was like climbing Everest for me. I saw my specialist this week and he warned me very strongly that I must try and try and try to put on weight or I will not build up the strength to fight infection.
So I sat down, put the choking word right at tjhe back of my mind. And it succeeded without having to use my Tesco sick bag.
(A lot to be said for living alone when you have throat cancer!)
Oh--and this is one for the girls. Or the boys. Who cares. 'Lipzone' by Estee Lauder patted around the lips, expecially above the upper lip, is wonbderful for temporarily softenng the wrinkles produced by al this worrying. Put it on under your moisturiser and it is good for the morale.
But evn better for the morale is Maurice's uplifting diary. I am rooting for you in every way and think you are an exampleto anyone feeling self pity. As is Vicki Lynne. Oh and everybody on this site.

Hi Ishbel,

Thank you for the Lipzone tip. I will certainly give it a go. Congratulations on your eating. Silly I know, but have you tried porridge? You can also get flavoured ones now. You have probably tried this though.

How about this for being drastic! Before I was diagnosed as having Hypothyroidism, I presume this was side effect of Radiotherapy. I had terrible bags under my eyes. I asked my doctor if anything could be done for this his reply Would you like to see a Plastic Surgeon? Sounds like a joke, but it certainly wasnt. Five months down the road on Thyroxine bags have disappeared.

By the way, my reply to the doctor was Yes please, and anything else you can throw in

Take Care

Rosemary

Ishbel congrats on your King Prawns and a big thankyou for your kind words about my diary. I am not brave I just write down what I am feeling. I think most people on here have had much more to put up with than me so fell honored to be associated with them.
Rosemary Tyroid problems are not only associated with radiotherpy. I have had an underactive thyroid for approx 3 years now and take thyroxin tabs every day. The good side is you do get free perscriptions for life Big Grin when you are diagnosed.
Cheers Maurice

Hey Paul,

We will all try Ishbels tip with Lipzone. Either that or Botox. Then we will be lovely Smoothies not Wrinklies. Who cares anyway? On a lovely day like today, it was an absolute joy to be able to appreciate it.

Take care,

Rosemary
