I don't post here very often but I want today as we have just heard that my partner's MRI scan is considered normal. He is 15 months after the end of treatment and had been suffering stiff neck and headaches so the ENT consultant decided to ask for a neck scan.

He had the scan on Monday 22nd and we received the news in the post today, 5 days later. Pretty good for the NHS! I had been very worried so spent quite a bit of time chatting to the clinical nurse specialist at the cancer who arranged for the scan to be viewed by the MDT team. She was really helpful and speeded things up considerably.

I would highly recommend that any new patients and/carers strike up a relationship with the clinical nurse specialist or equivalent at their cancer centre. S/he should be able to help coordinate communications between all the relevant professionals in your case and will also try and negotiate positions for you if you feel uncomfortable challenging consultants or oncologists directly.

Debs you would have been proud of me. I only really worried during the period between the scan and the results. The week before was Chaz's 50th. His son was here and we had a really fabulous time. Chaz's worries have been more focused on his Master's which is great. I am back selfishly worrying about myself. Had a busy year lots of work and lots of travel and now suddenly there is nothing in the pipeline and I have too much time on my hands...

Lovely red wine - I thought that was Angie's catch phrase?
