Hello Everyone
It's Christmas Eve down here and I just want to join in and wish you all a beautiful, happy, loving Christmas. For those who are in the midst of things, keep strong and hang in there. Things WILL improve and before you know it, you'll be wondering what all the fuss was about. For those caring for those in the midst of things ~ pat yourselves on the back, take some big, deep breaths for yourself (there's nothing wrong with thinking of yourself while all this 'stuff' is going on. In fact it's very healthy). Be kind to yourself. Your efforts are making the world of difference to someone you love and care about. For you 'old timers'. Here's another Christmas to celebrate with friends and loved ones that at some point you probably didn't expect to be doing. How great is that!!!! Well done to you all and I know you will be loving yourselves silly because you know the true value of doing that. From me to you, thank you all so much for what you have given me over the year and what a year it has been. So many experiences, so much love and friendship. I am a VERY lucky person. Sad, but lucky. Thank you ~ love you all and will have a drink to you all tomorrow. Love Deborah x |

Hi to all........I havn't been on for awhile, had to get a new computer. This Sunday will be 4 years since what I calll the big one (operation)and I'm doing really well. My saliva never came back , my neck feels like it's in a vice lots of times, I only gained 5 lbs but I'm eating really well, still doing my flea markets every weekend selling vintage costume jewelry and having fun doing it. Oh and the feeding has been gone over a year....yeah. So to those of you just starting on your roller coaster ride there is a light at the end of the tunnel. PLEASE BE PATIENT AND FIGHT IT ALL THE WAY I am one of the very lucky ones and intend to be around for many more years. A VERY HAPPY AND HEALTHY HOLIDAY TO EVERYONE. Our Christmas is Friday and maybe The Big Guy might stop by. Ho Ho Ho Joan P.

Just want to give some encouragement to all of you who may be just beginning your journey of facing challenges following oral cancer -- it's amazing how you CAN get through it, one day at a time. Didn't realize I still needed encouragement until I read Deborah's wonderful note below -- thank you, Deborah, for the good reminders and encouraging words. It's been two years since the end of Stephen's radiation and chemo treatments, and he is still cancer free. Things are not what I have hoped for yet for him regarding eating (no swallowing happening to speak of, though dilatations may be starting to work a bit), but Stephen's attitude has finally become my own: he can talk, he can teach, he can compose and play guitar -- anything else is extra. And if something were to change, we would somehow handle that as well. There is a great deal to appreciate about life, even if 60ml syringes are a daily part of it!
Don't lose hope -- look forward to brighter days ahead, even if, for now, it is only in seeing the goodness in others reaching out with a helping hand. Susan |

We are having a white Christmas in Wakefield and and most UK. Christmas eve was busy with clearing the snow off the drive to let the car climb the slope up into the tight garage. My weakling shoulders are aching today. Then dinner with family. Today, opened Christmas presents (socks, shoes, handkerchiefs, chutney, chocolate, honey, a book and a dvd) after a really good lunch today.
Best wishes to everyone for a peaceful and happy Christmas and New Year.
