I am realy sorry your dad is having such a bad time, i had operation last October followed by Radio just starting to feel normal again. It is going to be very tough for your dad but having alot of family support around will definately help him, the only advise i can offer is to take things slowly and not expect too much too quickly, after my operation i was always pushing myself to try and get better quickly and when i did not it made me very down. I had to learn to let things take time to get better and then eventually they do.

Your dad must not have regrets for having treatment as so many people have cancer and it is too late for treatment your dad is one of the lucky ones, try to always look on the bright side of everything.

Hope all goes well

John

went to see my dad he is in better spirits then what he was but has dropped weight as he cannot eat solid foods yet. He goes the the throat test tomorrow.. He has been doing well in therapy although he gets tired.. he continues to do his mouth exercises and for his leg and arm.. He can now lift his arm above his head as in the hospital he could not.. I pray that all the test come back negative tomorrow and he can get on with his life

well my dad went to the meeting for the rehab part everything was positive.. Then he went to Dana Farber not so positive... the area where they took the tumor out looks good but there are still roots that are cancerous that could spread could not spread. They asked my dad what he wants to do as far as treatment to the radition for the next 6 weeks or opt for a monthly check up... The radiation didnt work the first time to begin with and my dad is just weak and tired.. He said he wants his body to recover a bit.. Why why is this happening.. he is such a great guy I have been up and crying all night.. I wish there were some options alternative meds anything to help him.. I feel so helpless and lost

Dad is finally out of rehab and back home.. He actually ate an orange and got most of a donut down.. He goes for his results for PET scan on Wed.. My dad is not going to do chemo/rad again.. he has had it and wants some quality of life left.. I have to agree with him.. Doctors give no guarantee that the cancer roots will go away.. why go thru with all of it if it doesnt work..it didnt work the first time

Hi eyecandy, i am inclined, right or wrong, to agree with your dad's decision on not having anymore radio/kemo treatment. If the choice came up for me i would say no next time as i believe the damage radiotherapy did to perfectly good organs was not worth the risk. Best wishes to u and your dad for the future, regards Bill

I had awful problems with Dry Mouth since completing treatment for base of tongue cancer in July 2010. Constant drinking, gels, sprays and synthetic saliva’ 24/7/ became unbearable. I found in the US a Colonel Richard Niemtzow who discovered, developed and still practices his Dry Mouth treatment in Maryland.USA. He also created battlefield acupuncture and is the world renowned authority on these treatments.

I exhausted places in the UK to be treated with his protocol. so visited him July 9th, 2011 and within the first of only two sessions was able to produce saliva again. No more gels, sprays and synthetic saliva since this date and unbroken sleep since.

I was profoundly affected at the results of the treatment so started in the UK The Dry Mouth Foundation. www.drymouthfoundation.org. but you could visit the colonel via his website www.n5ev.com

Let me know how you get on.

Terry Gannon.
