Fourteen months since radiation, and I don't think I can actually taste food. I just judge it by temperature, consistency, and appearance. I thought I was enjoying a restaurant that had lots of bland mushy breakfest food that I can eat. Then my wife told me the food was terrible. I'm sure she was right, but its like telling a blind man that he was with an ugly woman. It shouldn't matter, but it does.

Good Morning Ron, I love your blind man/ugly woman analogy,in future I will ask people to pass only favourable comments on the food then at least one of us will enjoy the meal. Keep Smiling John

Hi Ron, After 12 months I and 36 wacks under the gun, a major infection in the mouth, I am tasting nearly everything. Spicy still send me through the roof, but I am still doing it. Milk is my favorite, wine burns, but salt is ok. I have noticed a lot a change since India and the non-acid diets and cleanings. Z-teeth are sensitive, and life marches on. I ask everyone, when am I normal again, and they all say, youz wazn't normal in the first place. Give it time and pump your body with live foods. CS

Hi John Spencer, the French say that a meal without cheese is like a beautiful woman with one eye. I could tell you another but it may upset female readers. smell with food is my guide, and I find that my sense of smell has become even more refined. Chocolate is a killer and cheese, and any spicy foods, Ron try the oysters they slip down well, and most fish. with pasta sauce made from fresh tomatoes I pass all through a seive as cannot take any of the tomatoe skin. BIG BEAR HUGS TO YOU ALL

Hmmm. Interesting that I do OK with chocolate, as long as it is suspended in milk, ice cream, or some other liquid so it goes down and does not just linger on my teeth, tongue and throat like paint. I'll give oysters a try. Might be best to try new foods so I don't have a specific expectation about how it is "supposed to" taste.

Hi Ron - This is my first attempt to answer or discuss " still not tasting food." My treatments ended 10 months ago. I had radiation and small amounts of chemo for 7 weeks. I am still not tasting much. I take 3 "Boosts" per day and try to eat and taste a little something every day. Sometimes I taste a little bit but after 2 bites the taste goes away.Does this occur with anyone else? Does it mean my taste buds are returning or does it mean that's all the taste I will ever have? Water still tastes very bad.I fight depression constantly over the lack of taste but I'm "hanging in there" I would really appreciate any comments! Belle from Tampa, Fl USA
