Hi Hagg
It's almost 2 years since all the chatter about tatts and squirrels and things and I have been chasing some artwork ever since. Well! I had a brainwave and went into the Tattoo shop/parlour/CHAMBER (!) and looked through all of their stuff. Lo and behold there I found just what I was looking for and with some adjustment to accommodate my wishes, I have an appt on Thurs night to get my tattoo. Wooo hoooo!
This will be my "Tribute to Trevor" and also acknowledgment of the love and support we've had from everyone on the forum that has gotten us through the toughest of the tough times.
I asked the tattoo bloke how many drugs I'd need to take before my appt and he said that was up to me ~ that made me nervous. Clearly this is going to hurt!
I'll send you a pic once it's all done and dusted. Somehow I'll have to get the bloke to incorporate my veins into the background!
Cheers
Deborah

DRUGS ?????????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - don't do it Debs. I would have thought drugs would be the last things you want in your system after all the probs with the old fella !!!! LOL

I hope it doesn't hurt too much.

Maybe you've hit the nail on the head Winnie ~ he's an 'old fella' but I'm just his young bride!

I'm just putting in a note to bring this thread to the top of the list in the hope that Hagg sees it.

Hey Deb, nicely done about the tattoo. I haven't been on the forum quite so much lately but glad I came on tonight and found your post.
You wont need drugs, it's much better being straight for the experience and it doesn't hurt that much really. You'll be fine. I cant wait to see the pics. Take care. Hagg.

Hi Charly
I say CHAMBER (!) because I don't know what to expect and maybe it's like a torture chamber or some such! This is my first trip to the tattooist so it will all be quite an experience. That being said, it was all very quiet while I was making my booking. Maybe too quiet .........
The plan is to have my 'artwork' (I'm learning the lingo) on the inside of one of my calves. I'm thinking left leg however I have had about 5 little cancers removed from my legs this summer so between those scars and the veins ~ it will be a challenge to blend things I should think.
Back in 2007, after the walk in London, the discussion on the forum got around to being in the same place as other members from the board but not knowing each other. I said we needed an international symbol so if we bumped into anyone anywhere we would immediately recognise each other. From there the subject progressed (?) and somehow or another squirrels came into it, tra la la (there are some pics on the album having fun at my ignorance about squirrels). Anyway, long story a bit shorter I decided I would have a squirrel holding a heart aloft and Trevor was going to have a squirrel holding an r/t mask in triumph. I've tried a number of artist friends for the artwork, but no-one could come up with what I wanted, hence the delay.
Now, with the change in our circumstances, I am having a squirrel embracing a heart (possibly with an inconspicuous 'T') as a tribute to that husband of mine who is just the bravest, toughest, loveliest man I know. The squirrel of course represents (for me) the wonderful love and support shown to us both on the forum.
I was to have it done last night however since we had the opportunity to go to our friends' beach house for a couple of days, I have postponed and will now have it done on Tuesday afternoon.
This is a very big step for me, although I have always been interested in tattoos since I was young. I am now 57 and am dreading my father finding out about this. Us kids!!!
How are you getting along Charly, without your lovely Nigel? What a about the rest of the family? When I think of him, I see the pic you last posted and can't get over how happy he looks and the thought of the trip to the pub! Amazing.
You take care. It was lovely to hear from you. I shall post a pic of 'the leg' just as soon as it's presentable. Ha ha.
Love
Deborah

Debs, you saucy thing! I look forward to seeing the pics and am hoping that your dad doesnt find out. My Dad seemed to have similar views about such things. When I suggested having my ears pierced at about 16 he said that I would be wanting a bone through my nose next.....in retrospect I think that was quite a racist comment!

Hope the tatooing process its not too painful.

My mum went mental when I had my first tattoo, she hates them. I think getting the cancer put things into perspective though and she still hates them but accepts me for who I am. Hagg.

Hagg I don't want to go to your extremes to help Dad over the hiccup of my tatt! I'll just try to keep it under wraps. I've told the kids that Pop doesn't need to know!

Well I've been and done it! Woo hoo.
I can't get over how little pain there was involved. It took about 3/4 hour and the worse thing about the whole episode was the horrid music blaring.
I love my tatt already and I know that it is going to give me a lot of comfort in the future. It is quite unobtrusive but not ridiculously small ~ just right! I'll leave it for a few days before I get a picture of it, but so far so good.
This is so exciting ......... I think I need a life.
Love
Deborah
Charly ~ you hang in there and go with the flow. Grief takes a long time to make it's way out of your body and life. Don't spend too much time in the background, come on in and share with us all.
