OMG! How lovely you all are. I've had two very teary days and the nicer everyone is, the worse I am! Never mind. I'm sure it will pass (not the niceness, just the blubbing!!)
Well it's all official. I am all booked and insured and ready to roll. I'm registered for the walk and set and ready to go. I've had one training session with Peta the night before last and although it was only a 3km walk, I'm still recovering! I sure have some work to do.
Thanks for all the sponsorship offers, I'll very happily take you all up on that, just need to find out what to do. I think Angie has the page all set up so all will be revealed soon. I have people down here who also want to do some fundraising for our team so it should be great however it's a bit sad that our $ is worth about half of whatever your currency is these days. I don't want to be coming all that way without raising a bundle for the MCF. Maybe someone will sponsor me for each mile travelled. Mmmmmmmmmm........... Food for thought!
Tony ~ you'll be hearing from me, don't you worry about that however I will be off to get my feet bound before my arrival!
Liz ~ I know you've got my room ready and I think it would be wonderful to see Bell and Paul. What a treat! I have no idea how far anything is from anything else so that makes making plans just a little difficult!
If it was possible I'd also love to catch up with Fran however she hasn't posted for such a long time and I have lost her address so hope that things are OK there.
Wouldn't it be great to have 'catch up' barbies at various places. Well, I think it would ~ don't mean to be presumptuous.
Yes, I'm very excited and now need to find some motivation to get me focused on the here and now and my new reality. I'm so happy to be planning this trip as a tribute to Trevor but it makes me feel so sad that it's his absence that makes it a possibility.........
Woooo hoooooooooo .......... catch you again soon
Love
Deborah

Debs the uk is only 800 miles from one end to the other, nothing in terms of Australias distances.Yorkshire is 240 miles from london 2 hours on the train.Bell and paul are about the same distance again from Yorkshire.Angie, and a few others are all within spitting distance of me,so it shouldn't be too dificult for you to meet a few northeners,i think hagg and michelle will have to co-ordinate the southern end of things lol.Michelle is london based and Hagg is in the west country (probably about 180 miles)

ohh you will have fun.

WE ARE UP AND RUNNING (WALKING??)

I would be happy to host a get together at mine during your visit, what does everyone think about getting to Cheshire? perhaps not a 'barbie' Debs, you may need your thermals in September in the UK!

Here comes the waterworks all over again!!!
Angie what a fantastic job you have done! Thank you so much.
Peta has just given it a test run and it isn't the best way for us to donate from here so I will have to set up something different and maybe hand deliver the Australian donations. I can save on some fees through work so that will be a big help. We already lose a lot with the exchange rate.
Fantastic! Fabulous! Wonderful! Clever! and etc. What can I say? This is going to be just great. I will direct people to that website just so they can see the connection with Trevor because I'm sure that no-one knows what I'm talking about when I mention the forum. They just don't get it. Well, get it they will from now on.
Surely I won't really need thermals will I? Remember we are in the middle of winter here so Sept, although it can have some hot days here and there, it's really just coming off the coldest months. I will need loads of information and advice ~ I'm counting on you all for assistance don't you know!
Must away

Liz I guess your 800 miles is a bit more densely populated than ours? I'm not much on conversions but that must be equivalent (approx) to 1500/1600 kms ~ about a trip to Melbourne and back!
I'm already having fun. Will it get even better!!!
I hope I can sleep tonight.
Love
Deborah

Debs, apparently there is some problem with the site at present but I think I can remember something about accepting overseas donations, I will try again and see if I can make it happen

Copy from just giving:

Can I donate on a JustGiving page if I live outside the UK?

Yes, you can donate from anywhere in the world, as long as you have a credit/debit card.

You can only donate in pounds sterling (£ GBP), so you need to work out how much you want to donate in pounds, and we'll charge you the equivalent amount in your local currency. Here's one of the many currency conversion websites that can help: http://www.xe.com/ucc

Your bank/credit card company may charge extra fees for international transactions. Please contact them before donating to find out.

Can I claim a tax deduction on an overseas donation?

Unfortunately it is not possible to make tax-deductible donations across national borders. For example, a US citizen cannot claim a tax deduction on a donation made to a UK charity, and vice versa. You can only enjoy tax benefits if you donate to an organisation registered as a charity in your own country.

Hello Debs

Well what a surprise we need to organise, so...... What airline are you coming on (hope it not one of those ropey ones)? what airport are you coming to in the UK Heathrow or Gatwick?
Send us all the info and then we will have to get together and work something out, I think so far Angie, Liz and ourselves are going to put you up we all live in the North of the UK. So we need to know your plans (if any).

We live on the East coast, Liz lives about 100 miles away from us nears Leeds and Angie lives around another 100 miles on the West side. So basically where do you want to start if you have no plans for London then I am sure one of us will be there to meet you off the plane. We are happy to be there to pick you up and take you back up North (we will come down by train as driving is a real bas@@rd).

We can liaise with Liz and Angie, no problems getting you over to Leeds or Cheshire, or they can always come to our place.

Wait to hear from you .

Lot of Love.

Tony and Kathy

Hi Liz, I live in Devon but I do shifts over 24/7 and think getting more time off will be difficult. I've got 2 more holidays booked between now and the end of August and I've just got back from Glastonbury festival and had 2 weeks off so money is quite tight too.
I'll follow the plans on the forum and see what I can sort out. Hagg.

Wonderful to see everyone working together and getting things sorted for Deborah's visit.

Hagg: Glastonbury must have been amazing would like to do that one year myself as well.

Quick question on donations. A friend gave me a cheque made out to Mouth Cancer Organisation from an Irish bank in Euros. What is the best way to deal with this?
