Hi! All,
The otherday I bought myself a laptop support so that the keyboard is at an angle to the table which brings the keys closer to my eyes as just lately I have been havibg trouble seeing clearly and not being a touch typist was always making mistakes and sometimes I would have to get Deb to check my bloggs for errors(I still rather not worry as half the input wouldn't be the same if I was perfect Big Grin), anyway I got this support and it's like a ramp and fits under the laptop and you can adjust it upwards to about 15degrees, but the best part ia that ir allows air to get into the motor to keep the works cool and with the blazing temperatures we have been having has had my Toshiba nearly melting and the one thing I don't do is turn it of even at night I leave it on in case I get up real early and need to check for mail.
Today being Saturday I had the 2 boys and thier hangers on around for lunch BUT (and there was a sneaky reason) they had to cean out my ToolShed ready for my daughters household stuff to be stored as my Daughter is moving in with us and is going to rent her property( she has a beautiful 4 bedroom villa with a lovelly kitchen and ensuite out in the country with a small backyard, almost new). It will be nice having her here as not only is she good company she can help Deb out when I get sicker, not that I expect that too soon.
My pains in the stomach region seem to be flairing up and I am resorting to upping my pain meds and I get the feeling that there is a large firm area in and around my liver region which is where the cancer is.
Anyway where was I Banghead thats right the boys got to clean out the toolshed and a mate of mine who has a block clearing business is going to come around this week and pick up all the junk, timber,electrical crap etc, and etche will then dump it at one of those recycling points and it won't cost me a thing ;
Anway thanks for reading my post's.
Love to you all
TREV

Hi Trev,

I've been reading your thread but have not posted any comment. You are one tough guy, you know. You are really lucky to have another tough cookie by your side (Deb) who supports you all the way.

Just to tell you that an uncle of mine is now residing in Sydney. He has been staying there for 40yrs and has become an Australian PR. Recently, he came back to visit and he visited me in the hospital when I was undergoing the radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Things were on the downside when he was here because I lost my voice totally and could not say anything to him. Anyway, he was so glad to see me doing so well because he works as a male nurse and he knows how much a cancer patient suffers during treatments.

I am glad that you enjoyed your break and do take care.

Deb, keep it up...

Sharifah

Hi! All,
Just a quicky to catch up with you all as the way I am feeling at the moment makes it a bit difficult to put words together or enem to think about words. Deb and I with Marley in tow decided to pick Dad up and take a drive down to the beach at Semaphore(Probably doesn't mean a thing to you all), it was a really lovely sunny day and Marley was chatty all the way and when we got to the beach was excited (well it seemed that he was excited)as this was his first time to the beach and being only 13 months old the little tike had no idea what was happenning BUT once Deb intrduced him to the water he was laughing and giggling with glee, even when he was sat in the water he got on his knees and crawled out into the deeper water, It was so cool watching the little fellow enjoying hiself.
After a bit of a splash and chase the Seagulls we went up to the Kiosk for a yummy "fish & chip" lunch I managed a few chips and a Dim Sim and heaps of Ice coffee, then we were of back home as my stomach pains are getting more and more intense(I am a tad worried about the way the pains are staying around all the time now and the only way to alleaviate them is more pain killing drugs.
Upon arrival home the first thing I do is log on to my favourite site and check the Posts but with the time difference there was nothing there DAM!!!.
Ananth! hello are you there? what are you doing?.
Sharifah! How is your treatment going? has your voice started to improve? the side effects of the treatment we recieved often seems worse than the illness but in the long runit is a small price to pay for the new life we end up with. My taste recepticals or what ever it is than gives food the taste that you enjoy have packed it in and when I thought that I was getting my taste back I now find that even salt and sugar have lost their appeal, and anything else that I eat is only being eaten so as to keep some weight on my skinny body(after starting out at 139.7kgs and noe down to 79.1kgs).
Well thats it for another day bed awaits me.
LOVE TREV

Hi Trev
i guess these special days are a double edged sword really, happy to have them, tinged with sadness that there won't be enough of them.Hows that video diary coming on?Pain is the one thing you can get help with, and don't be afraid to get that help.Robin never lost his awareness despite being on massive doses of various drugs which was great.
Its 3 am here now and i am watching telly and drinking a cuppa.Sleep and i are not such good friends these past couple of years, and i am often awake for hours in the night so i keep my laptop on robins pillow lol.Your down under world means we sleep while you are just getting up,which is very weird.
You beat me in the weight loss stakes.I started out at 133 kg and am down to 98,but have unfortunately got my appetite back big time.Roll on the warmer weather when i can get out in the garden and start eating salads again.

Make sure you get some help with that pain mate.

love liz

Hi Trev

Reading about the fun you had with Marley makes me kind of jealous--I have two nieces (Kara 7 yrs old, and Lida 3yrs old) whom I hardly ever get to see. Sounds like you had a great day at the beach. It's been tooth-cracking cold here in Michigan, and I've had quite enough of it.

Enjoyment of food comes from smell, the feel of the food in your mouth, in addition to how it tastes. It also helps if your tongue is "original equipment" and not an after-market modification like I have. (I'm really glad that my flap is working so well, but it sure would be nice to have all of my tastebuds back. Why yes, I would like some cheese with that whine.)

Hi Trev,

Thanks for sharing about your lovely day at the beach with your delightful grandson. Boy am I envious. I was all set up to book Chaz and I a holiday in Morocco, but after feeling fine for a week and doing loads of socialising with his son he has been struck by cold sores and other nasties which has knocked his feeling well confidence and made him reluctant to travel. Of course I totally understand and wouldn't enjoy it if he was feeling anxious ..as it happens we have some nice theatre outings to look forward to and I am very lucky that lots of work that I can do from home keeps coming my way which means I can keep an eye on him and make sure he gets his portions of vege a day. He has just complained about brocolli in an omlette!!

I'm glad to here that your daughter is moving in with you I am sure it will be nice for you and Debs to have her around - you seem like such a lovely close family.

Take care and keep on posting.

Hi! All,
just a quick catch up, saw my GP yesterday and he has upped my pain meds as my pain level is getting to me and there are areas that surround the actual cancer site that seem to be getting firmer and larger. The side effcts of the extra "Oxi-Contin SR" is I am getting back to the sleepy stage again. I also asked the GP about the fact that I am always hungry and am constantly looking for food to eat YET am only putting on a small amount of weight in comparrison.
The GP explained that my body is not absorbing the fats and they are bein passed streight out the bowel and therefore he is sending me for blood tests to check on my Vitamins especially Vitamin B as these may have to be injected into me, maybe.
It is strange this wanting to eat and now I am looking at different foods that are sweet and naughty, like chocolate coated and cream filled "Profiteroles" YUM and crumpets with Salami, bacon, cheese and ETC.
My eyes are starting to play up well at least the left eye is and I believe I am getting Macular Degeneration back as I am starting to need to adjust my glasses on my nose constantly, the left eyes vision has gotten a blurred section in the middle of the vision area.
Deb and I went to one off our BIG shopping centre's yesterday and had a roll around(I was in a wheelchair as I can't walk very far now)the shops and a meal at a little restaurant, quite nice really, our youngest son and his fiance called in and started talking Wedding plans, as they may get married in a park or garden then back to our place for the reception, this will reduce their cost conciderably.
OK thats enough from me glad to hear that things are fine on the Forum and will get back to you all again soonish.
LOVE TREV

Gooodday Mr Tough guy, I been following your post and just want to say again that I find your sheer strength and positive attitude at all times absolutely incredible. Trev your a true inspiration, and no theres no parrot in here.

I am thinking of you, I say a prayer during diving on Koh Ha (Island no 5 in Thai) here in Krabi.

Me is off diving tho for a week, I got neck problems where my trachea was, getting rid of all me scar tissue hopefully. Pain tho.

Otherwise all well, you take care Sarge

Nigel.

Oh and my thoughts are with others close to you with all these dreadful fires, Our relations are in Ballarat, where I spent a couple of months a few years ago.

I have to echo Nigel's sentiments. Trev, you and your lovely wife are truly amazing and I really enjoy reading about your outings and visits from your family and get inspired by your positive attitude.

Am very jealous reading Nigel's posts as I am a keen diver and have been to Krabi a few times over the years. Fab sunsets...mm. Well my good news is that Chaz has decided he feels well enough to venture to Morocco for a week and although I am sure we will take it very easy while there, it will be wonderful to have a break.

Dear Trev, Nigel Hagg and all others.
Even though I have more or less - less I guess -I still go through all the posts. I do not pm any more as I got a feeling that not a very good idea after reading one such post.
Trev- I dont have to say it about what I feel for you. I missed one great opportunity when I could have met Deb and you. Guess it was not ment to me. Nigel - You asked where I was - am very much around , Hagg - how are you doing? If there is any way I could help you through what I have been through - please free to ask and I will answer.

However - this is more for Trev. You are one Aussie who is tough as nails and can imagine why the Aussies rule the world in a lot of sports - though India will be taking their spot soon enough in Cricket. I have no words to express what I feel about the life we are all leading - especially you at this moment. Its truly hats off to you and Deb.
Nigel - you actually pray when diving?? You must be in a rush to attain Nirvana. However, am really happy that you are happy. Hagg - its always nice to read your posts, though you have changed your signature a bit!!Smiler
I got a mail from Dr. Joshi, a couple of days ago about his being in Barcelona for a seminar and would be returning to the UK on Sunday. Barcelona reminded him of me and I in turn became nostalgic. On my health front - Its not too good as I am almost as good as bedridden though I am not invalid. I get tired very easily and really have to breathe hard to get back my breath. I spend most of my time on the net and watching movies on both the net as well as the TV. The nights are bad as I just cannot sleep - so I have my earplugs on and just let the Ipod play its tunes. I really got all the soft numbers = good enough to make one sleep.
The family is all fine. Sonya is right upto her neck with her work at the boutique which never seems to be empty. I wonder why as the clothing they sell - all ethenic stuff are priced way above what one would buy the same from a local market. Its just the brand name. The boys are fine - with the elder one almost finishing his college ( Bachelor of Computer Applications as well another degree in Arts- which have economics and a bit of math also involved.). He is also studying Spanish and is pretty good as we have made it such that we two will only speak in Spanish. Junior finishes his schooling over the next two months and am pretty sure he too will go in for computers and will then do his dergree also in marketing and sales - has a natural flair fir it. He does not study any langauge as he will not be moving towards Europe in any case. The wife and the boys gifted me a pug - a baby when I got him. I think I did post on and about him - well he has become an adult and is getting all worked up at the moment - so we have found a bride for him. Lets see how things work out - as there are three such ladies who their owners want him to mate with their babies Smiler.
Well - Trev - do carry on with the thread as it makes great reading an all the rest - keep doing well nd do write in if you feel I could be of any asistance to anyone.
With lots of warm regards ( I know I am being formal!!),
Ananth

Hi! All,
Am getting a few rather wierd simptons at present and may be nothing or could be something or other, My vision is starting to go off with a blurryness around the edges and a feeling of drifting or not focusing outside the tunnel (tunnel vision effect) and feeling of unease that does go away if I use "Calm" which is a product put out by Brauer Natural Medicine, which when sprayed on the back of the tongue gives the recipient the effect of calming. My day started out with a rather strong pain to the stomach area and after taking my sheduled dose of drugs was feelig a tad better BUT that was only short lifed as by 1140hrs I started gettig rather intense pains and took 2 X 10 mgs of Endone as a step up pain killer, which seemed to work until about 1300hrs when the pain returned $.5 on the scale of 0 - 10 so the taking of my next fix 1800 seemed to long to wait for, but I did and at 1840 took my next lot and boy did I need it..
I do wonder whether vany other of you learned people have had similar simptons are these are a bit of a worry to me ". I can't even focus on a reply so anything would help me

Trevor i am putting my nurses hat on here lovely, and just going to tell you a few facts. The type of cancer you have got is famously VERY painful. In my opinion you should be taking morphine at least every two hours, possibly have a fentanyl patch, and definately not be taking calms with prescription medication as this could be causing your woozy symptoms.

I would seriously advise that you see a pain management specialist and get this matter sorted so that you live your life at least pain free ,which is the very least you can expect.NO ONE in the 21st century should experience pain with cancer,if all else fails it is the one thing that can be controlled.

Listen to your friend Trevor and get some help from a pain management specialist.PLEASE.

LOVE LIZ
