The BBC news website are still running articles on cancer the latest today is stating how many teen cancers are not being diagnosed early enough particularly in th 15-24 age group. My son who was 28 at diagnosis was as the article says told several times they didn't really know what it was (the lump in his neck!) When diagnosed finally they said at not one time because of age and lifestyle did they expect to get a diagnosis of cancer. Was told it eas a branchial cyst. Hopefully next time someone young comes in they will remember his case and not assume! link to article below

I was 28 when I was diagnosed and they picked it up and treated it really quickly. I know I'm one of the lucky ones.
Having said that, it is bad that anyone who has cancer can be mis diagnosed or not diagnosed in the early stages, but it must be difficult in some cases to pick it up. Not that that's a comfort for anyone who has been missed. Hagg.

Mum,
Interesting article - that's exactly how my neck looked before i started treatment. Before my other symptoms even popped up! & my G.P. said - "it happens sometimes. It may or may not go away".
I was diagnosed about a year later!

I guess they're just not looking for cancer in younger people. That there is more chance of it being something else.

Dr's aren't gods - and i know my g.p. will never make that mistake again.
