Dear Bell

Deeply sorry to hear this. A loss of a loved one is a sad time. It has been trying for Paul and you and I am sure he appreciated the love and care you showed him. May he rest in peace.

Best wishes
Vinod

Have not been on the forums much lately so have only just seen your news.

I am so sorry to hear about Paul's death. He had been through so much and you were both so inspirational to all of us on the site. You looked after him with such care, love and fortitude.

Thank you all for your kind words of sympathy .I really did not believe that within 12 weeks of that awful news things would have deteriotated so quickly .When we left hopsital on the Sunday night he was feeling so much better and had his glasses on catching up on the Sunday papers and sent us home saying he wanted some peace and quiet and had to finish his papers.

Mondy Morning the pain had returned and and had another bleed this time it was from his ear .We managed a short converstion where I asssured him it was another infection and the antibiotic drip would work soon .He did not regain consciouness and the palliative pain team from hospice came to hospital and took over. They set up syringe driver again to make sure he was comfortable and pain free .

The girls and I spent Monday night with him and cosied up around the bed. His mum and sisters came to see him with priest .I think Tuesday morning we still felt he would come back round .He seemed to be in a comfortable sleep and just passed away very quietly in the late afternoon .We brought Paul home before funeral so he could leave from his beloved house and golf course. The flag has flown at half mast for him and I know that would have made him smile.

The funeral was just as he would have wished and my friend sang all his favourite Hymns through the mass .My daughters are staying with me for another week and have been so wonderful making tea for visitors and helping with all the arrangements .Neighbours have been kind leaving home baking on doorstep and the house smells like a florist .

I think Paul knew something was changing, as the 2 weeks before he sent my middle daughter out to organize special birthday presents for them all which he gave them the weekend before..

Thank you to everyone for all the support and advice .

Love Bell xx
