Hello ,just thought I would update you with our recent incidents .Life had picked up and Paul feeling good and back out in garden we were doing the shopping and visiting friends again coping well with the recent problems .On Sunday we went to our daughters for the afternoon and I was helping her do some planting and Paul was happy enjoying the company of my other two girls and her husband .He had been feeling the back of his legs sore and tight and we decided a visit to doctors on Monday was on the cards .Came home around tea time to find some sod!!!!!!!!! had come into front garden and totally molecated Harvey. He is a topiary golf sculpture I bought Paul for his birthday 5 years ago and was his pride and joy .Next door is a hotel which is under major renovation for the Open Golf and there have been screeds of builders etc working night and day for the last couple of months so Police think it could be someone from there .It is a quiet village here and we never have any bother . That was number 1. then next morning He said he could hardly walk at all and getting into car with him the gear box jammed so that was another gremlin .Finally got to doctors and ended up at hospital has Paul has snapped his Achilles Tendon in right ankle and now in plaster. They said he would not have been aware the pain was so bad becuase of his pain control .Next day they got him sorted out with a zimmer and he was doing well scooting around like the road runner getting shouted at as he not supposed to weight bear. All in all we eventually laughed and decided someone has one of theese doll things sticking pins in it .Last night we had such good laugh about things in general and he was tickled pink his plaster was a black one as he didn't want the family writing on it as he is a dapper soul and likes to be all sorted . This morning we had a long lie for once and then I got our wee tray with breakfast to have in bed around 8.But when I put the tray down he took another haemorage so it was all systems go phoned an ambulance which was so quick and they were fab they got him sorted out and into a chair and carried him down the stairs as if he was a child all 14 stone of him .Hospital was wonderful and his ENT specialist saw him straight away and got things sorted out .They will keep him in tonight and scope in morning to make sure everything is ok and there is nothing needing cauterized .He has said that unfortunately this could be an ongoing problem and just to get him in quickly .Paul is in good spirits and maintaing a sense of humour and determination to battle on. Tonight he was making noises about I should look into electric wheel chairs as he will be in plaster for 12 weeks and thought an electric one would be better for viewing his beloved golf as he thinks I am rubbish at manouvering them so that was me told. Well folks that is our news, it never rains but it pours. Will hopefully get Paul back home tomnorrow and hope there will be no more gremlins. Fingers crossed everyone . A rather frazzeled Bell .

Oh dear Bell, what ever did you do to deserve this! The only consolation is it can't go any worse. Here's hoping it will be a better day tomorrow.

Hi Bell I hope you find the jackhole(s) who messed Harvey up. Bunch of jerks! What a way to ruin a pleasant day out. Wow. Do you have any idea how Paul managed to snap his Achilles Tendon? Do the docs expect a full recovery from this? Oh, how I dislike those scopes. I've only had two, but the lidocaine spray up my nose and into my sinuses made my head feel cold and tingly and I thought my teeth were going to fall out. I've got everything crossed for you. Keep us clued in. Julia Howdilly doodilly, survivorinos!

My Dear Bell, You and Paul are truly amazing. To be able to have a good laugh after what you have both been through in the last few days is incredible. Hope everything went ok at the hospital and that you have Paul home by now. So pleased to hear that Paul is in fighting spirits despite these setbacks. What an amazing man he is. I would certainly try and get hold of some sooper dooper elecy wheel chair, he definitely deserves it and it sounds as if you might have some fun with it. I have just waved Chaz off on an outing with bunch of middle aged Harley Davidson fanatics LOL -group outings are not not his thing at all! Love Cath

Paul got home this afternoon so reinstated in his favourite chair with my foot stool .Had fun and games getting him back upstairs but decided to go hands and knees instead of going up on his bottom amazing how you get round things .Tomorrow the rapid response girls will be back to pop in the bits and bobs to help get washed in shower and numbers for wheelchair people and physio will go over getting down the stairs etc .They have been so helpful.Paul still being naughty and trolleying along with zimmer too fast .Phoned in a company yesterday the plaster room people gave me to order a seal thing to keep plaster dry and a wee foot sock thing for his toes and they were delivered late this afternoon so was delighted with the speed of delivery .Tomorrow should get stool and bath board in and he can get a proper wash . Specialist said the bleeding was under control and nothing needed doing so just to keep an eye on heavy snorting and coughing ,still waiting on fluoroscopy results but meanwhile is managing with thickners and pureed meals .\The weakness in his muscles could be due to steroids and will be monitored as they have really made a huge difference with his quaity of life, appetite etc and given him extra get up and go so a bit of a difficult one. Cathy I am laughing here ,your Chaz is scooting off on his Harley Davidson and wee are slumming it with a zimmer and looking for a sporty wheelchair.I am sure he will thouroughly enjoy himself.Look forward to hearing all about it. Well been a busy couple of days so going to have an early night and hope tomorrow brings no more unwanted surprises.Hope everyone is doing well. Bell. Hope everyone is doing ok and

Hi Bell Great to hear there are some positives happening for you in amongst the mish mash of extraordinaries being thrown at you both. Keep your spirits up and your load will seem a whole lot lighter. I was interested to read that the steroids might have weakened Paul's muscles. That's amazing, don't you think afterall don't the body builders use steroids? Have I got my wires crossed ~ again? It sounds as though everyone that can and needs to be on your case, is and that's great. You seem to get services to your door that I'm sure would never happen down here. Terrific. Keep smiling you brave pair Love Deborah PS How is Harvey? Could he be resurrected? What a mean thing to do.

Hi unfortunatley the last couple of days have gotten worse .Today the achilles on good foot went so was another ambulance and back to hospital not long home been there all of afternoon and most of the evening .Another plaster has been put on temporarily until orthopoedic specialist sees him tomorrow and decides. Discussions have implied now putting on 2 above knee ones which will make care at home extremely difficult so will need to wait and see what they decide .Also want to start him on anti DVT medication which is a problem because of recent nasal haemorrage .He is in hospital at moment and will await tomorrows discussion everything seems against us at moment .Asked again why this was happening and once again mentioning steroids so feel as if I am clawing for answers that make sense to me as what is going on . Will post when i know what is going to happen. so want him home but don't know how we will manage yet . Bell

Hi Bell There was probably no way the docs could have seen this latest development coming. I've heard of achilles tendon problems among golfers and gymnasts, but I'm guessing that Paul's been a little busy lately for either of these activities. I hope there's someone taking care of YOU. I was wrong, things have got worse. So sorry. Thinking of you.

Bloody hell. I can't believe this. You must be beside yourself with this latest setback, Bell. I can only imagine your angst at being apart from Paul while he is hospitalised again. I know the house becomes pretty 'rattly' when you're home alone and wanting to spend every moment with your lovely man. Hang in there, Bell. There really isn't any more I can say. I'm thinking of you. I feel for you and feel anxious for you too. Be sure you have someone to lean on if you need to. Bell needs a support team too! I'm as close as a PM if you want to talk. Much love to you both Deborah x

Oh, dear dear Bell. I ache for you and Paul as does everyone else. Remember to take care of yourself too. With love, Mimi

Bell, I am so sorry to read your latest news. Don't really know what to say except that I hope you get Paul home soon and receive lots of support. Thinking of you. With love Cathy
