Hi Everyone

I am in my final year of a Information management and business studies degree and have just decided to do my dissertation around the NHS/health area. One idea I have had is to investigate the information needs of mouth cancer patients as I am sure we have all suffered from a lack of information regarding our condition/treatments. If I choose this topic I will need help from as many of you as possible to collect views. It will probably be in the form of electronic questionnaires. Will you all be willing to help? and does anyone have any other suggesstions of a research area surrounding mouth cancer.

Thank You

Clare.

Thank you Brenda and Ishbel, I will be getting my topic agreed on Tuesday, if it goes ahead (which I hope it does) it is most likely i will publish a questionnaire online for you to fill in. I will keep you posted.

Hello Clare

You may find the abstract of this article Survey of computer use for health topics by patients with head and neck cancer of interest.

It concludes:
quote:
Many patients with head and neck cancer welcome information technology, but most prefer more traditional sources of information. Interventions to improve computer access and/or skills are largely undesired. Individuals seem to either embrace technology or not. In this respect, patients with head and neck cancer are similar to, rather than unique from, other patients with cancer
Any comments?

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee
