Greetings, I've been having a lot of trouble with my tongue. It is consantly a problem with sores, burning and numbness. I noticed two lumps inside my tongue towards the end and centered over what feels like the main viens in my tongue. I reciently have been seen by my family Dr. who said they were not normal and by Dr. Fee and Dr. Brown at Stanford. Dr. Fee started off by saying no matter what the results of my pet/ct, I needed the biopsy. Dr. Brown found them and said he would do the biopsy. I go scheduled earlier to help with my financial situation but with Dr. Fee who decieded that it din't need done. we will keep an eye on it. Well
I'm ready to lose my insurance $800.00 monthly cobra cost and I continue to have problems mentioned with my tongue. I sure could use some advise. I'm not a worier but I have so much trouble. I'm not sure I should just keep blowing it off as "it's from the radiation it will go away!" Well radiation was over 10 months ago. Anyone out ther with similar experience or can you direct me to a great Dr.
Thanks, Dave

from reading your past history on your profile I would say that you should have it biopsied - i dont know about financial help but I would say do not drop this - you may search to see if there are other posts with regards to monetary help.

Hi David,

We all know by now that sometimes the worse words we've ever spoken were, "...it will go away," and as we've found out since then, sometimes it doesn't. Don't take that chance!

I don't know your age or circumstances, but if you're under 65 I believe that HIPPA laws apply to you.

Government Programs for Uninsurable Chronic Medical Conditions

quote:
"This Act provides for continuity of health insurance coverage regardless of health to age 65. Availability of coverage begins the later of the date your COBRA options expire or the date your employment ends if not eligible for COBRA. The decision as to who provides the insurance for this portable product is left to the individual states. But, regardless of who provides the continuation of coverage, the guarantee is real. The beautiful part for people with an uninsurable chronic illness is that the HIPAA law prohibits any exclusions or limitations for preexisting conditions."

Also, if you're under 65, remember that you can apply for Social Security Disability too (see link).

If you're 65 or over there are other plans that are available. Google is your friend.

I'm sorry if I'm directing you toward programs you've already studied, but I'd like to be of help. I think one of the nastiest parts of this disease can be the additional worry about how to pay for treatment. Tell us a bit more about yourself!

Best of luck to you.

Mimi
