Hi All
Telephoned GSK (Glaxo Smith Kline) according to them all product such as tooth paste, mouth wash and gel are still available. Pack systems are discontinued. When I said that was not the case, they seem to be surprised. Seem that the lack of product is unfortunate "glitch" they promised to check into it, supposedly they are going to post to the forum regarding the lack of product and how to go about getting it. Biotene comes under consumer healthcare products tel: 020 8047 5000 UK US tel: 888 825 5249. GSK: Biotene products. Biotene in UK Regards Tony This message has been edited. Still can't get biotene toothpaste, but have managed to get bioxtra toothpaste instead. Can't get any gum under either brand. Does anybody know of any gum like Biotene which is available on prescription? I like to use it after a meal when out on a day's cycling.

Chris,
I snooped around a little and found Biotene products (including the gum) on amazon.co.uk. I have no idea how NHS works and if you can get it with a prescription (or how you'd do it on amazon), but at least it's available. Best of luck! Mimi |

Thanks Cookey & Mimi. I have managed to get Bioxtra toothpaste on prescription, rather than Biotene. It's a bit harsher, but I can tolerate it and I do get it on prescription that way. I tried the express chemist website, but they have discontinued the gum.
I tried amazon.co.uk and although they had some biotene products - still no gum. I did find a website which would supply it from the U.S.A. at less than £1-00 per pack, but it charges £22 shipping www.drugstore.com!!! It's really disappointing that Biotene gum is not available in the U.K., espectially as there are over ten books on sale through Amazon which recommend using it. In the meantime I have found a substitute in Wrigley's Extra Fusion Strawberry Peach flavour gum (from Asda). It won't have the additional benefits of active enzymes, but it does help keep the mouth moist when I'm out cycling. I also recommend Linessa sugar free sweets (from Lidl)for the same reason. If anybody else finds a U.K. supplier that can supply the biotene gum, I would be interested to hear. Bye for now - past my bedtime. Chris |

Hi ,had a look and found www.toothbrushdirect.co.uk has the gum and most of all the other Biotene products ,went as gar as check ut and was in stock. Our pharmacist is still getting the toothpaste and mouth wash on prescription for my husband without any problems but Paul can't use the gum .Will ask him when I am in next week to collect Paul's prescriptions who he uses and if the gum is still being supplied in UK.
Paul was also given a box of hard type small pastille things from Hospice to suck which is supposed to aid saliva but he can't use theese either and put them in bin but will find out what they were and let you know ,They were presecription only and supposed to be excellent. Hope this helps . Best wishes , Bell. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Bell, |

Thanks very much about the gum Belle. Sorry to hear that Paul is unable to use it or the pastilles. You're both in my thoughts. Best wishes

I have been through the same loop as this. What has happened is that Biotene toothpaste manufacture has been taken over by GSK. They have chosen to only produce the 'original', which to my mind is nowhere near as effective as the Mint Gel for my burning mouth syndrome. Sad, but there it is.
