i think i may have found the answer for the continual taste of salt in my mouth at least i hope so.six months before i was diagnosed with cancer i had a gastric bypass because i was 25st and had severe sleep apnoea and i just could not shift the weight.well one of the many symptons of lacking b.12 is a salty taste and as i have had this surgery my body does not absorb b.12 because of the operation as it bypasses some of the intestine.last year after my treatment my iron was very low and i ended up having 11 blood transfusions in total to get my iron levels up.since then i have had no blood tests done but i am apparantly supposed to have regular tests done to check my my vitamin and iron level and i didn't know this.so on monday morning i am off to my doctors for some tests and i will let you know if it's the cause.fingers crossed eh. shirl xxx

Sorry to hear that your still no nearer an answer Shirl. Thanks for asking about my son. Yes at the moment he is fine. Gone to 3 monthly checks now. Back to QA on the 19th december. Is it next week you are back there? I will be thinking of you. If only they could get your eating sorted out! I can understand how this must really get you down. Keep in touch Shirl

Hi! Shirl,
I am sorry to hear that you are still having problms and although it has been over 13 months since my origanal treatment finished I still have to drink litres of water each day, I don't have salt as my problem quite the oposite as it was salt that I tasted first followed by sweet tasting things(however not the actual taste of what I was eating just the sugar in it). At present I add salt to my food to give me something to taste, I have even progressed to chicken salt on hot chips(still have to drink with them though). Food still has no taste for me but it is improving as each week goes by so don't give in.
Thinking of you at this time.

Hi Shirl ,wish i could give you a big hug ,you are in a really bad place at moment .I think you need to get cheeky and get back to the clinic and tell them how bad you are feeling there has to be some explanation for this.

You have been through so much, so surely between your own doctor and the clinic they have to come up with some answers.
Hope they get to the bottom of this soon .
Thinking of you,

Bell and Paul
