Today i had my third follow up since finnishing treatment and it wasn't a happy time.
I explained my problems with the blood at the back of the throat. So as normal i had the camera-up-the-nose thingy. He found, what looked to me, like a little cut. No blood clot cuz i flushed it out with my spray. The cut looked like it was surrounded with some scar tissue. It wasn't at all like the original veiny lumpy mass i had before. No veins or bumps. But like a slit with scar tissue round it.
So i had 2 options: watchful waiting, or go in for a biopsy under general. Well i decided to go for the biopsy cuz i need to know.
Jo Simpson (my elusive oncologist) was confident it shouldnt be anything sinister. In fact, when i asked her out right if i should put my grooming business on 'paws' (Big Grin) she said no, carry on as normal.
So Friday i'm in for my pre-op. & next Tuesday i'm down for the biopsy.
Obviously i'm poopin my pants a little (Ananth no replies with - what will be will be please Smiler). Realistically i dont believe it is back - it CANT be!! But i've never had a general before. & i just dont want to go through all that again!

Anyway guys thats me getting it out of the system.
Take care all...
Michelle

Hello Chelle

Don't worry about the GA. You will be okay. Just learn to relax using the relaxation response technique.

Good luck.

Best wishes

Hi Chelle,

It has been a long time since I have posted, but I do check up on everyone quite often. I am so sorry to hear about this scare. It is not fair that we all have to live on tenterhooks. I hadn't had a general before my surgery and it was fine. It was totally surreal dropping off and waking up in recovery, but there was no pain and it felt like drifting off to sleep. I am glad you have seen the elusive Dr Simpson. She has always been really honest with me (the good and the bad), so feel reassured that she has told you she thinks it is nothing. I see her next in October. My checks are now every 3 months and so far, so good. Looking forward to seeing you and everyone else at the walk in a few weeks. I will be thinking of you next week. Take care, S

Hi Chelle

You are doing the right thing in getting it checked out.

Pre GA, they can give you a shot of something to relax you.

I am sure you will be OK and back fighting fit next week.

Will be thinking about you next Tuesday.

Hello all you lovely people & Ananth Big Grin!
Thanks for all your encourging words.
After sleeping on it i've come to a few conclusions.
1 - What an attention seeker i am... Just as the lime light shifts from me i have to do something drastic to get it back.
2 - How can it possibly be back when the tumour showed a complete response after my 3rd chemo cycle! I then had 3 more & 6 & half weeks of R/T... it nearly killed me so how could Mr.C survive all that?!
3 - My oncy surely wouldn't have given me the option to watch & wait if she suspected it was back. & she wouldn't have said to carry on as normal. She said she's quite matter of fact and if she was concerned she'd say so. & the ENT guy did a thorough poke and prod on my lymphs and they're all normal.
Even still, i'm going through all the what-ifs. But i'm still carrying on with life.
Susana, i was talking to Pat about this forum and she's going to put the website on the back of my leaflet she's producing Smiler I'm pleased all is well for you.
I'm tinking it's probably as Bell was saying and just damaged tissue.
Just glad i don't have to wait too long!
Dr. Joshi, i'm often doing those relaxation techniques before i go to sleep and stuff... they do help Smiler

Anyway...

I bought myself an individual Tesco Finest x-mas pud today & i'm going to have that now with faaar too much double cream! Smiler

Thanks again each and every one of you.
Michelle x

Like Dr Joshi says, dont worry about the GA Michelle. I'm nearly up to double figures on them and I quite like the fact that you get a really nice sleep with no disturbances Big Grin. Good luck for tomorrow but personally I think you've kicked its ass for good already. Hagg.
