Hi, just thought I would let you know of the slight change to the pre planned half term mini break I had chosen this last week. Instead of enjoying some time in Dartmouth I ended up checking into the exclusive members suite at the Derby Royal infirmary. Single room (no extre surcharge for not sharing) en-suite and free mini bar (empty). Room service was excellent staff superb. I have it seems picked some sort of bug up in my first week back at work, so at the moment I don't know when I will be home nor when I will be back at work again. I am 99% better than when I got here on Thursday just very breathless when I talk, so I have been told to shut up! Can't say fairer than that can you? I will get the results from a few test's tomorrow so I will get back to you. Thanks for listening all the very best to everyone love Elaine j

Howdy
I love the idea of easier access to pics etc but the mere mention of facebook makes me nervous. I've never had any joy interacting that way and have angst about the fact that people may move from the forum to the interactive format of facebook. I'm safe and happy within the forum. Can't we just have an easier album?? Please? Deborah |

I think I'm with Deborah on this one. Any chance of making the album easier to use?

sorry but i totally disagree.i find face book the easiest and best way of staying in touch with everyone i know ,and i have found some old friends too.The group applications are not the same as the personal ones, and it is entirely up to the individual wether or not they accept friend requests etc.Photo albums all have their own privacy settings so you can decide who can see them and they dont include the chat facility in groups. In all the time i have been on facebook i have never had a security issue and it has been a joy.Having been a member of OCF for two years it has been wonderful to see the faces of people who i have only been able to imagine. It hasn't detracted one jot from the forums ,and is the best way of sharing pictures i have found.

Hello all
We have previously created 'mouth cancer awareness week' & 'mouth cancer walk' pages on Facebook and will look into creating an official Mouth Cancer Foundation group page, too. We will also look into making the present albums here easier to use. Here's the thread for your own photo albums.

Hi all. I'll be happy if the forum photo album is made easier to use but I'll give facebook or similar a miss, not really my thing.
It does make it easy to stay in touch with friends, especially if they are some distance away, but most people I know personally who use it work with each other or see each other on a practically daily basis. It's a crap substitute for actually speaking to people and using 'proper' means of communication. As the newspaper headlines have said recently, "stop going on facebook and get a life'. I'm with Deborah and Gwyn on this one. Facebook own the photos once they are posted on their site and once you post photos, people you may not have as friends can see them because they are a friend of your friend (I might have been able to word that sentence better Sorry to rant on a bit but I like the safeness of the site and have always been a bit anti facebook. Hope I haven't upset any of you pro facebook members. Hagg. 12 years and still kicking it. |

Hagg, who can see and share yor photos on face book is entirely up to you.You are completely wrong about the pictures, every picture you post has the availability for you to stipulate exactly who can see it or not as the case may be and if you attempt to access someones pictures who has put their own security settings in place, you get the message on screen that there is restricted access. As for owning the pictures,i can delete them any time i want.Careless use of the site brings problems, but for your average intelligent person there are no issues whatsoever.I could not possibly keep in touch FOR FREE with many of my facebook friends as they are overseas ,and i can chat to my overseas relatives with ease at no cost, and share photos of the kids etc.
I think your post is a bit harsh actually, as to some of us this method of keeping in touch is invaluable ,and in some respects no different to the way we all keep in touch with each other here. The point that started the discussion was that the community album is very cumbersome to use, putting pictures on is straightforward but i personally lose the will to live trying to look at the picture i want to see. For some of us Hagg its not so easy to "Get a life" and i don't see anything wrong with having a very quick and easy method of communication with people i know ,its lovely to get comments about the grandkids pictures and to be able to post them so my daughter can see them an hour after she has gone home. liz Love liz Never take your eye off the ball it may just smack you in the mouth |
