i would like to courteously point out that the thread that has been closed is TREVORS thread that has been running for months, and is one that every member of this forum particpates in and looks forward to on a daily basis.I cannot believe that such an important thread could be subject to such ridiculous squabbling.Whatever perceived misdemenour Ray committed it should not involve Trevors thread, and i think the offending posts should be removed and Trevors thread reinstated as soon as possible.

Great idea, cookey.

Since the original thread has 222 posts on it and is a little unwieldy, maybe this one can be the New Trevor's Thread. What do you think?

How 'bout you, Trev?

I can't believe how upset I feel over the suspension of Trevor's thread. I'm almost in tears. Is that stupid?
I was just saying to a friend while I was away over the weekend that I don't know how I would be coping (which is becoming more difficult) if we didn't have the link through the forum and the fact that Trevor's 'story' is recorded in his thread has made it particularly 'special', 'poignant' ...... whatever.
Why is it 'unweildy'? Does it have 222 posts because no-one is interested? I don't imagine so. There have been some laughs in there and also some low points ~ from lots of different people. Controversy has been close to the surface at different times and also some posts which might have been more appropriate taken up in another thread. There have been times when I've thought that maybe Trevor was going to be lost due to other topics taking over however that hasn't happened and it has swung back to him when he has found the energy to post. I think that shows that it has been a thread of interest ~ or at least Trevor's situation has been.
I appreciate of course that some people might look at it and think 'how boring is all that stuff ~ I can't be bothered looking at it' and that's fine. There are areas on the site that I rarely look at because it might not be of interest to me, I might feel I know nothing about the subject heading or it might be related to the UK. My point being that, like a TV programme you don't like or aren't interested in, you don't read or watch it. Simple.
I appreciate very much the friendship and support I get privately from various members of the forum and I'm sure they wouldn't bother to be in touch if Trevor wasn't their 'friend' and if they weren't interested in his condition and therefore his thread. Perhaps a lot of people don't understand that we joined the forum in July 2007 when Trevor had cancer in his neck and our contributions faded (as they tend to do) when his condition improved to make way for someone else's journey. It seemed natural to turn to our friends on the forum when his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer arose because these people already understood what we had been through and what it is like to get on board the cancer train. Would they all have continued to support us for 6 months if they weren't interested?????
I feel very upset and while I haven't yet spoken to Trevor about it, I saw the shocked look on his face when he read it. He just said 'they've cut my thread!'. He may feel differently to me and it's his thread so he can follow it up as he wishes however I couldn't not respond to the situation as I have found it this morning.
Does anyone not see the grit and positivity and zest for life that Trevor has in the face of bastard disease and his prognosis; his pain and frustration and the dreadful lethargy that you all know so much about? Is he not inspiring in the face of all this @*&$?

Hi! All,
I AM SHOCKED AND VERY DISAPOINTED that this could be done to me, my life evolves around this thread and upon wakeing in the morning the very first thing I do is log on and check my friends on the Forum. I must have missed something between Midnight lst night and 1000hrs this morning to find my thread MISSING I didn't see postings in that time and can't imagine what could have been put in there to cause this deletion WHY Dr WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG ?.
The postings that I have put in have been a diary of my treatment and I am would be of a help to other people that suffer from this horrendous disease, and bring a bit of humour to the site, I am not real clever in the english gramarr department but I am sure there was nothing that I have put in the Forum that should cause this deletion.
I would like to think that you could replace my thread and delete any offending post's PLEASE, PLEASE.

Hi Trev

You did not do anything wrong.
We welcome and admire your contribution.

You can still access and read your full thread.
Nothing has been deleted or lost. We put a lot of effort into the preservation of all postings since 2002.

Everyone is free to continue to use the entire message board as before - to create new topics or post replies/messages anywhere - whilst your closed topic is under review. We are considering re-opening your thread but we need time to review the situation.

I did not wish to delete Ray's entire posting as I did not think it was meant to be offending. I only wished for 1 offending word not to be used - but Ray would not even allow that!

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we try to make this online support group a community for everyone and not just for those who can tolerate controversial or offensive words.

This was my closing message on your thread.

Deb and Trev,

Am sorry that I didn't clarify what I meant by the thread becoming 'unwieldy.' Perhaps this happens only to me but because the thread is 15 pages long, it takes longer to load even though I click on 15 rather than 1 or on the thread title. That's all I meant, certainly nothing to do with content or laying it to rest.

I also suggest that Krishan has the original thread become a sticky, stationed at the top of the General Chat listing so that it never gets lost due to inactivity as a closed thread.

It shouldn't mean that we should ignore the wonderful posts on the original thread, but simply that the original is chapter one and the new thread can be chapter 2 and in another year perhaps we can have chapter 3. Going on to chapter 2 doesn't mean that we're throwing the book away!

Am sorry I butted in to what is really your thread (this one started by cookey) but I feel some responsibility for the original thread going south. I asked for a translation of what was being said and it was a genuine question that I thought might have a humorous answer. Believe me, I never heard that phrase before and hadn't a clue what it might mean.

Am terribly sorry that I have further offended you when you needed it least and know that however you wish to handle this is none of my business. I feel like crap.

You two aren't the only ones who sign on and look for that thread first! I look for it first and then at everything else.

I love you both.

Mimi

Damn right i would. How can anyone put Trevor and Deb in this situation?

Krishan it was completely unneccessary, and ill thought out to do this.If you felt it neccessary to justify your actions in suspending ray you should have sent us all a message on a new thread, and deleted the post you were unhappy with, not involved a man who is loved and revered on this site .I know you have contacted Trev, but this has already caused him far more anguish than Rays problem post has caused anyone.

When Rob was dying i kept a blog on OCF.I wrote on it every day, sometimes more than once, and two years on i still go back and read the messages i got from the people who helped me through, just as i go back and see messages from the many close friends i have here.I cannot state strongly enough how comforting this is and i would have been devastated if it had been stopped and then had to be started somewhere else. This thread is Trevs testimonial and should be preserved and continued unblemished by politics and political correctness.

For goodness sake let common sense prevail, and show some sensitivity to the real issues of this site, which as i see it is to support each other through good and bad times.

Mimi you have absolutely nothing to castigate yourself about, the treasure of this thread is a very personal thing and i know exactly how important it is to Deb and Trev to keep it intact and let it continue ,

So you have my vote.HANDS OF TREVS THREAD.

Love liz

My vote too!!!
How sad - so many unhappy people. This is a marvellous site for the help and support for those who are suffering. I rarely post now as I am distressed by some of the unpleasantness that has been occurring.
Trev and Debs - you have the love and support of so many people don't be disheartened. You are two of the strongest folk I have ever come across and I read your inspirational posts every day - you lift my spirits.
Hang on in there!
Much love
Margaret

Please let us return to posting on Trevor's thread. Trevor and Debs are such an amazing, brave and loving couple. Their account of Trev's battle with this horrendous disease and their positive attitudes and seeming ability to keep on finding joy in the everyday experiences of life are an inspiration to us all.

Dear All

I have heard your comments about what the thread "Here we go again" means to Trevor. The thread was closed to stop it degenerating. Now that Big Ray has been suspended, hopefully temporarily like Ananth was, the thread is being re-opened and this closed.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee
