Hi Everyone,

Most of you will know that 2 years ago I was diagnosed and treated for tongue cancer (flap, neck dissection) On Monday I found a lump in my neck and I am very very scared. I have made an appointment with my consultant for Friday. I had an MRI scan done last Friday just as a routine, so they are hopefully going to have my results ready for me on Friday too. I was wondering if anyone else has felt lumps in there neck? How likely is it that it is just a swollen gland? Any advice appreciated. I am in my final year of university and I hate the fact that I have to worry about these things. Its going to be a long wait till Friday

Hello Clare You should have had your results by now and, hopefully, your fears have been allayed.

I too have a lump in my neck which was biopsied a while ago. It turned out to be innocent. With the fewer glands in the neck after a disection I think sometimes the remaining ones are working overtime and one in particular gets blocked, or maybe is affected by scar tissue. I'm not an expert but I know it is always a worry when something "new" pops up. Let us know how things went on Friday. All good wishes. Brenda x

Thanks Cat and Brenda, my MRI scan results were all clear so it assumed that the lump is just a lymph glad! Phew! Its been a nightmare week, but its 2 years today since my operation and the only way is forward!
