Hello John. Hello John.
Are you there??? I haven't heard the news over the weekend so don't know if you've been blown off the map! Hope you had a real good chuckle with your movie.
What Australian wines do you like? Any paricular region? We live on the very edge of the Barossa Valley ~ lots and lots of wine around here. We are also in McLeod's country. I don't know if you have McLeods Daughters on your TV screens but it is filmed around these parts. The main homestead is just five minutes from here. Trevor used to drive the cast around a fair bit ~ his claim to fame.
I'm not up at all hours, posting. The time that shows up on each post is your time, not mine. This will show up as around 2.30am or some such but in reality, I'm writing at 11.02 am on 8th ~ much more civilised!
Keep singing and tapping (we could get Angie the "Tapping Queen" in for the latter!)
Love
Deborah

Hi Liz
How exciting!
Would you believe I have never seen one episode of the show? I know people who have been in it fairly often (locals) and there's sometimes a call out when they need crowds etc. Last year they filmed a 'full monty' show ~ is that correct? Anyway it was filmed in a little township about 5 minutes up the road. The hall is so tiny and apparently there were people spilling out everywhere ~ much excitement among the natives!!
Since I haven't seen the show I don't know how green we look however it depends VERY much on the season. Most of Australia (apart from north west) is in drought so there is a lot of brown countryside. We seem to have a 'belt' through here where the crops are really doing well and at present doesn't look too bad. Another month though, once harvest gets under way things begin to look pretty drab and brown.
The homestead in McL D is right on the edge of the Barossa Valley so the veiws around there can be pretty stunning. The highway runs through pretty close to the property and I saw the most amazingly beautiful moon rise one evening as I was heading off to work, out over the valley. It was surreal, breathtaking really.
Next time you're in Sth Aust I'll take you around to everything ~ Gungellan Pub and all. Was there a wedding or something recently? I know there is a dress on display down at the dry cleaners and I believe it's from the show. I've seen people in there taking photos, so it's a bit famous!
Cheers
Deborah

I think we all have worries about re-occurrence and reading some messages on this site perhaps re-enforces these worries, I comfort myself by the fact that most people come to this site for help and so you are going to see all the negatives, not many come to this site to say all is ok, as this would seem perhaps a difficult thing to say when so many are suffering. For me I have found this site very helpful over the years particularly during my treatment it certainly helped me though some very dark times, now I find it difficult to post as my life is so good compared to some.

Yes I agree with Shelia a few jokes can help at least takes you mind off your problems even for a few minutes, below is something that might make you laugh unless you are easier offended and then I apologise.

12 of the finest double-entendres that have been aired on British TV & Radio

1. Pat Glenn, weightlifting commentator - "And this is Gregoriava from Bulgaria . I saw her snatch this morning and it was amazing!"

2. New Zealand Rugby Commentator - "Andrew Mehrtens loves it when Daryl Gibson comes inside of him.'

3. Ted Walsh - Horse Racing Commentator - "This is really a lovely horse. I once rode her mother."

4. Harry Carpenter at the Oxford-Cambridge boat race 1977 - "Ah, isn't that nice. The wife of the Cambridge President is kissing the Cox of the Oxford crew."

5. US PGA Commentator - "One of the reasons Arnie ( Arnold Palmer) is playing so well is that, before each tee shot, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them ..... Oh my god!! What have I just said??"

6. Carenza Lewis about finding food in the Middle Ages on 'Time Team Live' said: "You'd eat beaver if you could get it."

7. A female news anchor who, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't, turned to the weatherman and asked, "So Bob, where's that eight inches you promised me last night?" Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too, because they were laughing so hard!

8. Steve Ryder covering the US Masters: "Ballesteros felt much better today after a 69 yesterday."

9. Clair Frisby talking about a jumbo hot dog on Look North said: "There's nothing like a big hot sausage inside you on a cold night like this."

10. Mike Hallett discussing missed snooker shots on Sky Sports: "Stephen Hendry jumps on Steve Davis's misses every chance he gets."

11. Michael Buerk on watching Phillipa Forrester cuddle up to a male astronomer for warmth during BBC1's UK eclipse coverage remarked: "They seem cold out there, they're rubbing each other and he's only come in his shorts."

12. Ken Brown commentating on golfer Nick Faldo and his caddie Fanny Sunneson lining-up shots at the Scottish Open: "Some weeks Nick likes to use Fanny, other weeks he prefers to do it by himself."

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the walk on Sunday.

Bye for now

John

Thank you so much for the laugh John, I have been catching up with all the posts and must admit I have had a good belly laugh with those. I look forward in sharing them with Darrel when he comes home from work!! I would like to share with you my own silly comment I once made. I was working in a bank at the time and had a male customer complaining about not having enough room to sign your signature on the back of your debit/credit card. I explained they are all made like that which is unfortunate. When he handed my his card to check his signature I then said "Oh yes you do have a big one"!!!!!
Well everyone went into fits of laughter and my customer said "I made his day, and hope I didn't say that to all the male customers". I still giggle at myself when I remember this day. And yes I am a blonde!!!
Hope you enjoy that laugh as well.
Regards Tracey (blondie)

Good Morning/ Evening Deborah & Tracey Lee, We seem to have a Life of Brian appreciation society in the making....Why not?
I survived the viewing without problems but I understand that a Scotsman living in the next county, Mr. Singe Maheed, took the full brunt of the lightening, his cousin ,Maheed Sanfire, who was watching with him commented favorably on the punch given by the particular single malt they were drinking at the time.
The answer to your question regarding which ozzy red I like has to be "all of them". I visited Fran at her home near Edinburgh a couple of months ago and she kindly gave me a bottle of red from the Margaret's River area which was superb.( Fran contrbutes to the forums)So far I have only found this brand in one shop about five miles away but it is worth the drive and the price GPB 7.5; USD 15; MGB 231,842.38 (Matabele GumboBoot)I could not resist the price convertion, British TV reports thrive on them, such things as "the suspect is 5 feet 10 inches tall( 1.72 metres, 0.98 fathoms, 1 rod ,pole or perch".)
I like your story Tracey. We all seem to go through life dropping the odd clanger much to the delight of the onlookers; I have a long history of this sort of thing, it is good when we can laugh at ourselves and enjoy retelling these incidents.
By the way I think the space on the back of credit cards is quite large!!!!! At this point it is time to give up.
Keep Smiling Razzer
John

Hi Johnmac love the faux pas listed, especially the snowy one, like you I feel I have been lucky compared to many on this site and feel awkward posting at times. However my wife may be facing these problems and I will if it comes to pass be very reliant on my friends here and any jokes going about.

You all know me as a man of Faith but I too love the Life of Brian, as a Christian I am too often treated like Brian because people think I should be divine and perfect as Christ was, the whole point of the film was that Brian never claimed to be Christ. Nor do I, I merely give him Honour and try to point folks in his direction; best wishes to all, Alan

Dear Alan,
On the topic of Christianity , I have come across so many of the faith who do even know the prayer of the Lord. Amazingly, almost all the hindus who have studied in convent schools and Univesities - know it fluently and to add to it they are almost all familar with the Hymns too. Most of them could discuss the Bible with a Christan which is saying a lot for Hindus.( Am not saying this as I am a hinduSmiler). I guess India being such a Country where all religions are tolerated ( except by some idiots - for political gain!) most people take a keen interest in learning about each others religion and especially as they too want to be a part of the celebrations that each religion celebrates.
Coming to my post above about a lot of Christans who do not know the Lords prayer is very much true and I can say that with a lot of conviction. Being onr of the top shots at Mercedes Benz, I was also expected to attend interviews when we were hiriing senior staff. I remember at least three of these candidates who did know the prayer but not the complete prayer. I rejected them all on that basis.Another who I rejected was a youngster who had just finished his college and that meant he had passed out of school just about three years prior to this interview. I too had studied in the same school and even at the ripe old age of 38+ know my school song inside out and this guy had no clue about it. If anyone is not proud of what they are or where they belong is a matter of great shame. It just means that if a person can treat his religion and schooling like this - what wil he treat his job like? I know I was treading on thin ice but at the end - everyone agreed with my thoughts. What do you feel?
Lots of love,
Ananth

PS - I do go for mass on some Sundays just as I go to the mosque and the temple of the Sikhs and the Hindus.

Live on your beliefs and strength- and you will become immortal.
