Hi everyone, I wrote on 21st
February on this site saying that I had been referred for tests as my dentist had discovered a white patch on my tongue. Well my tests are tomorrow and I have no idea what to expect. Can anyone enlighten me?

I wouldn't like to speculate on what they'll do. I had a biopsy but that was on my gum,not tongue. I hope it goes well for you though Maria.

Hello Maria

You are most probably going to have a biopsy done. You can read past posts on biopsies for some advice.

You might be a little sore in the tongue after a biopsy. Ice cream might help. Good luck.

Best wishes
Vinod

Hi and thanks so much for your replies. I didn't have the biopsy - not yet anyhow. The consultant and two fifth year students had a really good look in my mouth and found two white patches on the base of my mouth and there was the one under my tongue which I knew about. I have no swellings in my neck and they seem to think its nothing to be too worried about. I have to go back and have photographs taken and a biopsy and am awaiting the appointment.
