Hi and thanks so much for your replies. I didn't have the biopsy - not yet anyhow. The consultant and two fifth year students had a really good look in my mouth and found two white patches on the base of my mouth and there was the one under my tongue which I knew about. I have no swellings in my neck and they seem to think its nothing to be too worried about. I have to go back and have photographs taken and a biopsy and am awaiting the appointment.

The abo ve is a post I made in April. Well, I had the photo and biopsy yesterday. They took one from my tongue and one from the floor of my mouth. I had four injections and three stitches, but am only a bit sore today. I am off work at the moment, as i haved some sort of neuroloical problem also, my left side of my body is numb and tingling - have had a scan and seeing the neurologist tomorrow but I don't think body and mouth are connected.

I don't really feel that I have anyone to share my true feelings wih at the moment as my husband is very positive and makes a joke of everything but I think secretly he is concerned. I'm looking at the black side at the moment but am putting on a front for my husband and kids. I'm terrified actually....

Hi David and Susan - thanks so much for replying. I'm wandering around in a daze at the moment, trying to be all happy and smiley for my children especially. I know there is nothing concrete to worry about at the moment which is the view my hubby takes, but I can't help it. I have noticed that you are close by! My follow up is not until 30th July, so I have quite a wait yet. I just feel that its going to be bad news.

Hi Maria,I had my biopsy result back in 2 days but I was nearly dead at that point lol lol. Dont mean to be flippant but I'm well over it now and I like to try and give people a smile if possible Smiler. It does seem that bad news comes back quickly so the longer it takes to get a result, the better,I would have thought. Even though your husband is looking on the bright side I can see how that could be a bit frustrating, try not to look on the black side though. Hagg.

Maria

The positive thing is that you are preparing for the possibility by researching and taking advice. If it is bad news(I hope that it isn't)then you already have a head start.

For me it was a complete shock. My biopsy was routine and at no point did my family or me (even my consultant)make any connection with the cancer.Since then I have gone through treatment and was given the all clear officially in Feb.

The waiting is the hardest aspect of this.Once you know then its either relief at being clear or in the event of it being bad news its all hands to the pump to kick this foreign body out of your system.

This board is invaluable for the latter

Good luck

Robert
