Hi everyone
thanks to all who have sent sympathy & prayers, would like to share Joshua's speech at his dads funeral with you:
" I would like to quote from some of the many letters and cards we have received.
A larger than life character with an endless stream of funny stories: A lovely man who did such a lot for other people: A good man and a good friend: Never knowingly hurt a soul: One on his own: Greatly missed by the many children he helped: We consider it a privilege to have known him: The stubbornest guy I have ever treated, but I feel honoured to have met him: I always enjoyed being in his company: A special man who touched many lives.
Everyone has a story to tell about him, but to us he was just our Dad. He taught us to always consider other people but be true to yourself. To always aim high, and to stand up for what you believe in. He loved us and we will always love and miss him"
Joshua stood up and said this at the funeral in front of over 200 people without a slip. I think he is a very remarkable 9 year old and in spite of the awful sadness I was a very proud Mum, and I know how proud his Dad would be too. Speak to you soon
Jennie

Jennifer, what a wonderful tribute for a nine year old to make to his father. You must be so proud of Joshua, bless him. Grown men can falter on such an emotional ocassion - and who can blame them. As you say, Paul would be so proud of his son. Paul has certainly left a great legacy behind which will live on in his children. They say that love never dies so be sure that Paul will be looking after you, Caroline and Joshua from his special place in Heaven. Special prayers and love from Brenda.

Jennie, you two are wonderful parents the proof is in your children. I tell you that I don't know that I could do what Joshua did and with such grace and calm. God Love him. I am so proud and can only imagine how proud you must have been. That was a lot for a young man to do. Jennie you have a lot of friends please don't forget to reach out to them anytime you feel the need. After all that is what we are all here for----each other...Bless you, Vicki
