This forum was set up about four years ago to help and support people like us and has since received high acclaim and many plaudits both nationally and internationally, which means that a lot of hard work has gone into achieving this.

I am sure we can all remember the first time we plucked up the courage to actually log in and ask a question on here. Perhaps we had deliberated for some time wondering what kind of a reception we would get - would we be made to feel welcome, etc. Just as you might have felt this, so might there have been a number of other newly diagnosed mouth cancer sufferers (throughout the world) looking in on us just waiting for the right moment, only to find the diatribe that has been posted recently and thought better of it.

It has been said before - words that are written down lack the emotion or humour that might have been intended and therefore can cause upset by wrong interpretation, so we must pick our words carefully and sensitively and, where appropriate, TRY to be helpful. If we have an issue with someone and want to let off steam then use the private messaging option.

I will now get off my soapbox!

Hi Brenda, I well remember my first posting in 2004. I swithered for weeks before putting a tentative foot in the water. 1: because I had never joined an on line Forum & 2: because I was worried sick about Brians diagnosis.
The first people to welcome me were you & Pauline Thank you so much
Also, many thanks to Dr Joshi for keeping us up to date with the latest Research reports, I dont know how you do it with a full time job..
Many, many thanks to everybody who have helped me. Fran.

Hello to everybody,I have been abstaining from posting recently as I agree with Fran and Brenda.Felt things were becoming a little to personal.Paul and I have appreciated the help and advice from everybody here and feel it is important to try and understand how everybody has different coping mechanisms and also the effect certian drugs have on a persons
emotional state .We would also like to say to congratulatins to Chelle on her engagement !! wondeful news for a beautiful loving girl with great passion and strength .Our eldest daughter is to be married on the 9th of May this year and will be our first wedding so we are very excited .
I would also like to ask if anyone with NPC 2 years down the line has had a septectomy to correct RT damage and the removal of adhesions .Paul is going in for this operation at the end of the month as he is having difficulty breathing through right hand side due to adhesions .Also the fact they can not pass camera up to get a clear picture so will also do some biopsies .(the side with adhesions was not the side the NPC was situated .)They will leave a stent in for 10 day's then remove it hoping to give him some relief.
Wondered if anyone else here has had this done ?.

Thanks to everyone .
Bell & Paul.
