Hi Maurice her not been on for a while but got email re Brenda so replied. For those who don't know me here a short history. Four years can cer ago radical neck disection surgery followed by radiotherpy. I have developed a constant ache in muscle top of my right arm. Anyone else with this, if so how do you get relief.

I have also developed a small nodule at the bottom of my right lung and have to go for a PET scan on th 30th June. This is rather ominous but what the hell what will be will be. Off to China on the 5th July for a month, so whatever they fid wil have to wait

Cheers all
Maurice

Hello Maurice

Nice to hear from you, and China again. You must tell us your stories.

Sorry to hear about the nodule bother. Hope this reply from a lung cancer forum helps puts it in context:
quote:
Lung nodules are really difficult to make sense of. Sometimes they are clearly benign (not cancereous), e.g. if they are calcified (after prior infection), and sometimes they are very suspicious due to their shape being described e.g. as spiculated.

Unfortunately this leaves the majority, especially small lung nodules in a gray zone. I always tell my patients that if you would take 20 "healthy" people walking outside on the street and would do CT scans you would find several with these nodules.

PET scans (especially PET-CT) can sometimes help if they are larger than 5mm. Below that it's very difficult.

The 100% way to know is to take them out surgically, but that's not appropriate as most will turn out to be benign.

If you have lung nodules you should discuss them very carefully with your doctor. It's vital to follow them very closely, because if they turn out to be cancerous it is extremely important to find out as early as possible.

...... and the shoulder ache is probably muscular, try heat application and massage and hope that helps.

Best wishes

Hi Vinod, thanks for your reply. Yes I am off to china again, we bought a new house there last year and my wife has been there since March fitting it out. I am in fact in Kilkenny Ireland at present overseeing a new road construction. I intend to retire there in 2 years time my health lasting out that is. If things don't look good with the scan may well do it now.

Hi there Maurice, good to hear from you. Yours was the first account I read when Brian was diagnosed & I was looking for info. You were just a few weeks ahead of him. I've often wondered how you were getting on. Sorry to hear about the nodule, I'll keep my fingers crossed that its benign.
Brians also developed a constant painful muscle & shoulder joint on his disected side He takes either Ibuprofen or maximum strenth Aspro which helps.
Good luck with the scan, let us know how you get on. Fran.
