Hello, friends, My tongue invasive tumour was extracted in September 2nd. In a routine check up two weeks ago, my surgeon suggested me that the cancer could be related to HVP, even if my older brother has had (and survived) tongue cancer when he was 29 years old (he lived 50 years after that). My gynecologist has found no visible traces of HVP. However, my question is: if you have the virus, you cannot get rid of it, can you? another one: should we avoid oral sex to protect ourselves from HPV? Thanks in advance Shoshana

Hey Shoshana! Interesting. In answer to your second question, I'd suggest taking a page from the HIV/AIDS prevention playbook and use barriers (condoms or dental dams--whichever the case may be). I'm not remotely qualified to answer your first question. Howdilly doodilly, survivorinos!

Thanks, Julia! I hope Dr. Joshi will answer my first question. As for the second, you´re right, but sex is turning less fun with all the viruses, bacteria and illness that surround us! I believe that us cancer fighters and survivors should enjoy what the world gives us: from sunny days to tasty food, from sports to sex Have a lovely weekend! Mine will be full of family (mostly nieces and nephews) and cooking.
