Hi everyone just a note to let you know that I am back at home after 2weeks in hospital the some time spent under orders from my little sister Louise. My operation went well, I have been for my mask mould and the fitting for the mask and x-rays. My radiotherapy starts on the 20th of July. My son Anthony is taking me away for 4 days this week end. I went to St Lukes Hospital this week and met Dr Joshi who checked my teeth over and gave me instructions on how to look after them. I can inform everyone that he is as nice if not nicer in person as he is with his help on this site as are all his staff and felloq workers.

Good to see you on line Maurice and hoping you are feeling less drained than before the operation.

Just hope you enjoyed having that mask made!!!!
Does not seem to bother some, but I loathed it -found it a very claustrophobic experience.

How is your weight??

Hi Pauline thanks for your thoughts. I found having the mask made a needed task and therefore kept that in the front of my mind. I found them as I have with everyone else I have come across very caring and gentle. Although, with having lower back problems it was uncomfortable. I can see me having problems with that as when it's really bad I sometimes can't lie down and if I do it's agony and then can't get up. As for my weight I think I have lost nearly half a stone. I am tring to put it back on but don't seem to have much of an appetite

It is lovely to see you so positive after all you've had to have done to you recently, Maurice. Like Pauline I felt the mask making was really horrendous but thought that all the celebrities went through that for Madame Tussauds, so why not me!
Also, the young man who did the mask fitting was a bit like a young Jack Nicholson which was a help.
The appetite thing is a real problem. When smoked salmon started tasting like stewed petrol I knew the radiotherapy was starting to work. Then about three months after the radiotherapy the old flavours started coming back. But the smoked salmon has to go into the blender which is pretty yukky, while I can swallow poached cod. I can just hear my late mother saying :'I always knew that smoked salmon wasn't all it is cracked out to be. You can't beat a bit of boiled cod.' (ugh)
Anyway, you haven't started that yet and have
a lovely break to look forward to now. I was reading something which I thought was apt today; when faced with a big crisis it is best not to worry about the problem, but concentrate on the
solution.
Regards and lovely to have your news Ishbel
