Hi Friends,

Sad news of Brenda, but I note that I have not posted for a while so thought I would bring you up to date with Maggie.

Radiotherapy was a partial success removing secondary tumours but the primary tumour on her tongue remains. We have been told that save for the possibility of one further treatment of R/T (dependant on the results of an MRI scan a week ago)but for the purpose of pain management only, no further treatment is available. Maggie has now been referred to the Pain Clinic at our local hospice and had her first consultation two weeks ago the next is on Wednesday. But as a result she has been given a combination of drugs which has been very helpful and reduced the dosage of morphine for break through pain. The respite from pain has been most notable this weekend, but of course will be transient and requires constant management.

I am pleased to say that Maggie remains at home albeit on the ground floor she is uncomfortable lying flat and now sleeps in her recmilner in the living room. God willing I will try to ensure care continues to come to her rather than she go into care, although her first impressions of our Hospice was very favourable and she felt at peace there: a feeling she has never known on a hospital ward, so if needs must!!!!

We have not asked and will not ask the obvious question but we are resigned to the circumstances as are my sons and we now live one day at a time grateful for what we have.

For those who are so minded I would ask for your prayers for Maggie for like Brenda I am convinced of their effect and value. Maggie and I are probably closer to each other now than we have been for many years and I feel forgiven, which is a huge comfort. We are none of us perfect and the fact that Maggie can find the the will to forgive speaks volumes to me in the sense that I am now sure she accepts she too has been forgiven and can face her own mortality with confidence for which I praise God.

Thank you all not least Ananth for your care I will post but not for a while, however I follow the discussions, take care all of you,

Fondest regards, Alan

Dearest Alan,

I am really glad to have read your post. You had really got me worried. I am glad that things are as "normal" as they can be termed as. I honestly missed you on the forum as were one person who could control me whenever I became a bit too blunt (and nasty??) and I honestly stopped posting as often as I used to as I was really wondering what was wrong.

Take care and just say hi once in a while - so we all know you are okay.

Lots and lots of love to Maggie, your sons and without saying you too.
Ananth

Alan,

I will keep you, Maggie and the rest of the family. I hope and pray that God's healing love and power will be with you at this time.

Alan - I believe your wisdom and insight has been missed over the last few months. I hope we can support you as you have supported so many others in the past.

Lots of love and best wishes
